If you’re looking for a classic New England dockside seafood experience, The Dock in Waterford delivers across the board. The waterfront setting is exactly what you’d want from a coastal eatery—overlooking a peaceful marina with direct views of moored boats and the Niantic Bridge. The atmosphere is relaxed but vibrant, perfect for a summer afternoon meal.

The fried clam strips basket was a standout. Generously portioned, crispy, and well-seasoned, they paired nicely with the side of golden fries, lemon wedge, and house tartar sauce. Everything was served hot and fresh, with multiple dipping sauces available at the table. Seating is casual but comfortable, with umbrellas providing good shade

We were there slightly before sunset. The food was sooo fresh and delicious! The dock has plenty of seating. There is a raw bar with oysters and boiled shrimp. So good!

It’s a take out to a sitting area with a bar – draft beers wine. The deck seating may fit 20 people. Tent seating and then some tables below. Great views of harbor bridges and river. Closes at 8 so be careful about bathrooms. They lock them. Seafood is very good from fried to grilled to baked. Price is reasonable. It is loud with young kids running around so just be aware. The food line moves quickly. Send someone to grab a table while you wait in line. They can also get drinks while they wait at the table. Pay at bar.

Food was good, could’ve used a bit more flavor but good overall. Super nice atmosphere. Only thing was we had to wait like 25+ minutes to order.

I went there yesterday for the first time and it was excellent. The staff was kind and the food was exactly as I expected it. For such a small place, I was pleasantly surprised at how many items were on the menu. My wife had the hot lobster roll and I had a cheeseburger and oysters. The burger and lobster were delicious, both items cooked perfectly. Oysters were great as well. And we loved the environment, nice view of the water and boats passing by. 100% will return.

I stopped in for lunch and it was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Right off the bat, I asked about the lobster roll and was quoted $30. That price is outrageous, considering most lobster rolls in Connecticut hover in the mid-$20 range. For $30, you’d expect something exceptional, but based on what I ended up receiving, I can’t imagine how they justify charging that.

I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap instead, and what I got was sloppy and careless. The ratio of chicken and lettuce to the oversized tortilla was completely off. The lettuce was drowned in Caesar dressing, dripping everywhere and overpowering everything else. It didn’t feel like a freshly made wrap — it felt like someone just slapped ingredients together without any thought or care. To make things worse, the fries that came with it weren’t even cooked through; they were limp and soggy, as if the kitchen rushed them out without bothering to check quality.

The entire meal gave the impression that nobody in the kitchen knows — or cares — what they’re doing. Either the chef has completely checked out or the staff is so overworked they’ve stopped trying, but either way it’s unacceptable. Running a restaurant means caring about the quality of the food you put in front of people, and here it was obvious that quality was the last thing on anyone’s mind.

Great lil seafood shack. Has a good seafood selection. The fried option were all very tasty. The oysters, clams, and shrimp were very fresh and they provide excellent toppings for them. The place has parking and it’s a very easy drive. It’s a must try when in or near Waterford.

What a fun place! You could get your lobster roll and beer and sit outside by the bay, watching boats big and small sail past. They have plenty seating options, and quite a fun crowd around. The food is a bit pricey, but nothing like city restaurant rates. The food is somewhat self service, where you order from a separate shack and they call out your number when the food is ready. Overall, quite a fun place to hang out in the summer evenings.

This is a great little mostly fried fish joint on the bay. Kick back for a super causal inexpensive beer for the area, on draft in a plastic cup and enjoy hanging out talking with friends. View is great!
Foods good for the “style” of place. Run by young adults. Lobster roll bun could have had better bread and toasted??? I think it’s only open Wednesday- weekend??? Great after work stop!
Great stop after fishing charter!
You can also fish under the bridge here.

WOW we were amazed by how good the seafood was here! Really cool atmosphere along the water and it was so easy to order. There was a short wait time to pick up our food and the broiled scallops were perfection.
