Been here twice. 1 day was great, the other day was horrible. It’s amazing the different experiences you get with different bartenders. The first time there, the bartender was Angela. She was talkative and very personable. Made you feel very welcomed, so much I even bought a cup from them. The second visit, the bar tender was some cranky guy who would not even tell us his name. Seemed like he didn’t even want us there. When I wanted to pay, he combined my ticket with another couple friend of ours and told me to pay it all together. He wouldn’t separate my charges from theirs (stated it was too difficult). He was very unprofessional and straight up rude. We won’t be going back which is a shame because we liked the local vibe the first time. We hope the owners take note of this review.

For what it’s supposed to be, The Dive Bat delivers! At Compass Point Marina, the evening before our sail. The Dive Bar was the closest place to hunker down for cocktails and dinner prior to our sail in the AM. Service was good, prompt and accurate, thank you Angela.

We had painkillers, a spicy chicken sandwich and a burger… the food was hot off the grill out back. The painkillers were cold and strong, the sandwich and burger delicious. A bit pricey, but you’re in the water with few options. Don’t get me wrong, the sandwich and burger were great, rivaled other food we had on the island. We’d definitely circled back again when in the neighborhood!

This place is a hidden gem. Shockingly so. The food is delicious, drinks well priced, and the people are phenomenal. Nicole and Angela made our evening fantastic. The standard menu has something for everyone (we’re vegetarian, and we had multiple options, but meat eaters will be beyond delighted, too), but the **specials** are genuinely inventive and exciting. We had the lions mane mushroom “crab” cake, which was crazy good. The other special was a bratwurst done jalapeno popper style. There was a dessert tonight that was like a rich, but not too sweet chocolate cake with a coconut apricot creme compote? It was fantastic. We just stopped into this place on a whim while walking by, and we had a FANTASTIC night. Absolutely recommend this hidden gem to anyone. We will be back.

Rural restaurant with 3 tables and bar seats. Not necessarily tourist ready. Hot dog was best thing on the menu. Hamburger was overcooked but not crazy so. Spicy chicken sandwich was pounded out and perfectly cooked, but the dry spice was a bit much for me. Smoked wings were the special and were good, but mild sauce and ranch were from a jar. No fries, just individually bagged chips. Ice cream sandwich was a Kirkland’s ice cream bar with chocolate and almonds straight out of the bag. The male server acted like he didn’t care if we lived or died. $20 taxi ride from the Elysian. We won’t be back, but food wasn’t terrible.

My longest and most scathing review ever. The picture on this post isn’t from this bar, but it perfectly exemplifies how I was treated here (see the bottom for a comment on the note). My first night here, I was insulted by locals in a similar way and told by the manager, “You better get along if you want to drink here.” I obeyed, trying to fit in. A great measure of humanity is how people treat strangers. I’ve traveled all over the world—West Bank, Israel, Jordan, Czech Republic, Egypt (literally during the Arab Spring), Northern Ireland (IRA), Italy, France, and too many more to mention. The country Order intentional to give context . I’ve sailed my boat from Texas to the Caribbean and up the East Coast of the US. This little hamlet has the ugliest people I can remember encountering in my life. I pride myself on being friendly and generous, even when it may not be warranted. This is the first place I’ve ever visited that made me say, “I just want to leave and never come back.” I’ve been insulted daily, regardless of the grace, gratitude, and generosity I’ve shown. Ironically, my best experience on this island has been traveling on the “dollar bus” with the local Black residents. The irony? I’m a Texan who voted for Trump and, of course, a “racist.” The Black residents on the bus greet everyone with “good morning” or “good afternoon.” Several held our hands as we navigated the “dollar bus” routes, guiding us on how and where to go. Here, among “our own,” we felt unwelcome and openly mistreated. This is just a terrible place with too many terrible people. There are very nice people here—why they stay is a mystery.
Side note: My last night before I gave up on this place—after standing at the bar for 15 minutes, ignored by the staff while waiting to close my tab, another patron said, “Please take my seat; maybe they’ll take care of you.” That sums up this place in a nutshell. If you’re a tourist, I hope you have a car to escape to nicer places; we weren’t so fortunate.
The Note: We were guided by locals on where to dock our dinghy to go to the store, including by an employee standing on the dock when we landed, whom we asked if we were okay. “Yes, you’re good,” he said. Apparently, a different employee felt differently. The Dive Bar exemplifies this community. Just not nice people.

Compass point marina is “out there” and yes you have few options. However, given the food prices at the food center less than a mile a way, we found their “island prices” to be very reasonable. The atmosphere is outdoors – like most every other island place, bug spray always needed, no matter where you are. What surprised me was the food and the attention behind it. We found it fresh, hot, full of flavor and prepared by people who think about their specials the night before. The bar tenders are super nice, with one even coming from around the bar to introduce themselves. We’ve eaten there about 8 times and the experience is consistent. I happily give them 5 stars!

Amazing Food and Drinks at The Dive Bar!

The Dive Bar at Compass Point Marina is an absolute gem! The drinks are always poured excellently, and the food is exceptionally delicious. Nicole, one of the chefs, takes great pride in every dish she prepares, even if it’s just for a small group. Her dedication shines through in every bite. Great job, Dive Bar! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fantastic authentic experience.

We sat for 10 minutes before he got our drink order. Then he never asked for a food order. After 30 minutes, we left and went to Tap and Still for awesome food!

Heard about this place doing a google search and loved it was openly called a dive bar. Great small place on the marina. More beer selections than the supermarket had and the people are fantastic. Very local home place bar but I enjoyed myself.

Love this spot! Totally off the beaten path. The Dive bar is amazing. It is truly a hidden local gem! The bar is a great place to sit and have a cold beverage after a long day on the water. Located at the entrance to Compass Point Marina and only open in the late afternoon and evening is the hangout to some of the saltiest captains and crew that the islands have to offer. They have a very limited menu that is prepared on a gas grill that will blow your mind. The Burger and Chicken Sandwich is in my opinion the best on the island hands down.
