My friend and I came here to end our eventing and Newport and had a fantastic time. The rooftop at sunset was beautiful, cocktail and food delicious, and service was impeccable. One of the managers Andy, kept checking in on our experience, gave us some history tips, and overall 5 stars. Can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic experience in the downstairs dining area of the Vanderbilt. The atmosphere is very masculine with dark walls and furniture and low lighting but it is so extremely charming and has a cigar lounge/speak easy type of vibe. The food was spectacular (the New England Clam Chowder was exceptional, as was the halibut) and the service was absolutely amazing. Our waitress was so genuine and took great care of the table without awkward hovering- she offered great suggestions when asked and did not rush us through our dinner. It was a very relaxed evening the was extremely enjoyable. Be warned that you’ll be looking at a bill of $90+ per person (not including tip) but it included a cocktail, appetizer, main, and dessert each. Definitely worth it if your looking for something a little nicer with great food in the area!

We loved all of our experiences at The Dining Room. From the amazing and attentive staff to the delicious cuisine served there, 5 stars does not do them justice! If you get the chance, try the Behind the Oyster experience. What a treat!

Food was delicious and the hostess was on top of her game. But our server just wasn’t as much. She seemed friendly but was not very attentive. Loud customers. And they weren’t even children. I just had higher expectations for this place. But I think I’ll go elsewhere next time.

The worst dining experience I’ve had in decades. Went with 8 people. We all will talk about this place for years. Oh, don’t ask for bread at the table. They will bring out over toasted sourbread slices and charge you $12 for it. The steaks came to the table cold like they were under heat lamps. Salads are pieces of large leafy lettice. I would not suggest this place even on a corporate card.

I love the dark walls and cozy, relaxed, yet stately feel of the restaurant. The back-lit bar is the focal point of the room and sets a lively tone. We sat at the opposite wall where there is a long bench with dark velvet seating, which is a bit higher than the chairs opposite of the table. So it felt a little funny, but not a deal breaker.

I think this was a nice place to eat if you’re dressed up and wanting to feel special. The finding room reminds us of a Ralph Lauren lounge. We had two children in our party and did not feel in the way or out of place. The French fries are delicious. Like crazy delicious and almost out shined our main dish. Overall, would return to eat at again. (Would be really cute date spot)
