Social Profile:

The Diner Vancouver opened its doors in 2019 with a bold idea: Reimagine the neighborhood diner as a place that serves great food and greater good. We’re more than a brunch spot — we’re a social enterprise proudly operated by Meals on Wheels People, a nonprofit that delivers meals and connection to thousands of older adults in the Portland metro area and southwest Washington. When you dine here, your meal directly supports that mission. Every omelet, Reuben, and slice of pie helps fund programs that fight hunger and social isolation for older adults across our region.

I visited once before for brunch years ago and decided to give it another try again over the weekend. It was a little busy when I arrived and it took a few minutes to be seated. Cute and small diner, very clean. I had to wait a bit for the waitress to come take my order. The items ordered was the French toast and also the chicken pasta. The pasta was good. Very creamy and not bland but not overpowering. The French toast was not that impressive. Thick but not crispy. It tasted like plain toast and the powdered sugar and maple syrup barely helped. I do love that some of their proceeds go to meals on wheels so I will definitely come by to try other items. Maybe I’ll have better luck next time around.

GREAT experience here for our first time. Also just finding out about it’s mission to help the local community. Love this so much! The atmosphere was friendly, everything was clean, staff was very kind to explain how the program works and the food was delicious. Will include this as part of my usual weekly routine. It’s a win win that I love being a part of.

Had a fantastic brunch and took a chance on the Lasagna egg bake. It was incredible, while I wasn’t a fan of the sliced potatoes on the side if they added the option for hash browns this would be a 10/10.

I’ve been in a couple of times now and it’s delicious food made from scratch! I sat at the counter yesterday, meet the entire staff. Everyone was so nice and they work as a team. So glad I found this great spot. Your tip goes to Meals on Wheels. Chef Rick is doing a great job and making some great food with his team. Thanks to my waiter, Nate, Samantha, and the entire staff. I really enjoyed my visit. Think I’m gonna head up there right now for one of their fantastic breakfast entrées.
Update: breakfast was good!

I learned that the tips at this diner are donated to meals on wheels. All the food was good. I had a Caesar salad which was great, the rest of the crew had breakfasts. Very great presentation and taste. It was a bit noisy, lots of people, many conversations.

Staff was extremely nice! The place was clean and possibly recently updated. Although the food was mediocre (the hollandaise sauce was on the sour side and I didn’t like the gravy on our biscuit at all), I wouldn’t hesitate to go back and try something else, possibly lunch or one of the yummy looking desserts in their display case.
Prices were also mediocre; I’ve seen higher and I’ve seen lower. I get eggs benedict at my normal stomping grounds for $11.99, but here, at The Diner, they are $18. Had them somewhere else a few weeks back and eggs bene were $20.

Note: This review is based solely on the eggs benedict.

Lovely little diner with a good cause behind the scenes. It has a very open and social vibe to it. I’ve tried their hash which was fine, and I’ve had the eggs benedict every time since.

I am an addict. I don’t think I’d ever eaten eggs benedict before I came here – and now I return to it as if it is a holy place.

Worth the visit if you are in town or local already – if you want something really fancy, obviously go elsewhere – but if you want a nice local diner; here you have it.

Visited with a bunch of friends to try something new from our usual brunch spot. This was the first and last time we will be eating here.

The first couple of dishes came out, and those who had them enjoyed them, however it took another 10 minutes for everyone else at the table to get their food, leaving us waiting while others ate so their food wouldn’t get cold.

Once the second round of dishes arrived, we were met with nothing but disappointment. Not only was my steak completely over cooked and dry, it was only about the size of my wallet compared to the amount of breading on the outside. Felt like a very unfair amount of steak for the $17 I paid, especially when compared to multiple other locations in the same area.

One of my friends got the omelette, which was extremely bland and also had a LARGE piece of plastic inside of it. When this was brought up with the manager, they did not seem to care much and only offered to comp half of the meal when it had barely been touched. That friend left still feeling hungry.

Our waitress was very nice, but unfortunately that does not make up for the poor state of the food coming out of the kitchen, horrid lack of consistency, and the seeming disregard of customer sentiment from management.

We will not be returning.
