Pizzas were good, wings not so much. It was trivia nigth so it was very noisy. A lot of clapping and yelling. We didn’t know about it. It’s on Tuesdays.

Mike D. – LocalRank Pros
Nestled in downtown Phoenix, The Desmond Spirits & Oven charms with its welcoming facade, festive wreaths, and a proud sign boasting a blazing woodfire oven. This European-inspired gastropub delivers Neapolitan-style pizza with perfectly charred crusts, hearty artisan sandwiches (think paninis on house-baked bread), and urban fare that blends comfort with flair.
Pair it all with local drafts, craft cocktails, and daily happy hour deals running 7 days a week. Swing by for elevated pub vibes and oven-fresh delights—now open and ready for your next crave-worthy meal!

Great place for sports-watching. Got pizza and wings. Not very impressed with the pizza flavor. The crust was kind of covered on the bottom with carbon bits from the oven as if it hasn’t been swept out frequently. The sauce wasn’t much to comment on but lacked a robust flavor. The wings were yummy. Lots of flavor most were juicy but a few were very overcooked and dry. Service was very nice. I might go back but try some different options.

We went twice while in town because it was so good and put server was great! I didn’t catch her name but she was the gal up front with long brown/black hair. The second time in, she remeree our orders from a few days prior….impressive! The burger was the best! The pizza was good and the corn was amazing! Thank you, we enjoyed our time!

I loved the layout of this place…it was cozy and cool. The bartender/server Alex was incredible but after his shift ended service got reallllllyyyy slow. If I just based the review on Alex, I would have given 5 stars on service. The food was average. We had the meatballs as an appetizer and they had an odd, spicy flavor I couldn’t put my finger on. The white pizza and prime rib sandwich were good though.

Came in with a co-worker for lunch on a weekday… It wasn’t busy at all and our server, Alex was friendly and helpful…. But overall, he was the only one working the dining room and service was affected and slow because of this. He greeted us as soon as he could, but he had to bounce from table to table constantly before he could take our order.
We started with their salad, which was really good. Made with decent, fresh ingredients. Next up what their Sundevil pizza and it was decent. The crust was too thick for a brick oven/wood fired pizza. The crust resembled a “Dominos” style crust… bland and dense. The topping were decent, but the sauce didn’t do much for the overall flavor of the pizza.

The day before I went to The Kettle Black and service was horribly slow there as well… I think these two joints are part of the same restaurant group and find it odd that both would be managed this way.

Overall – I’d get something other than pizza if I returned.

It started with my arrival. I arrived at the restaurant where a sign stated that I had to wait to be seated. No problem, even though atleast 3 workers made eye contact with me multiple times, they didnt seat me. I was made to wait a very long time, until a family behind me showed up, THEN they seated me because I was ahead of them in line. I decided to sit at the bar. I asked, specifically, for a 0.0 proof beer and stated to the bartender NOT 0.5. She served me Guiness (I dont care for the taste, but I did drink it). I was hoping to enjoy the beer with the pizza I ordered. I later learned at another restaurant the Guiness is 0.5. People ask for zero (0.0) proof beer when they have religious based diets or are recovering alcoholics. You have to respect people’s diet restrictions. I knew they served the 0.0 because I had a beer there before. I was told they only had one beer, and the bartender assured me that the beer was 0.0. She actually served me alcohol contained beer. I ordered a pizza almost right after sitting down, which was placed before the family behind me and a subsequent party that arrived after that. After drinking the entire beer and watching both the family be fully served appetizers and their main course PLUS the other party who arrived after the family behind me, was served their food – both parties after me was served before me. Realizing that discrimination could be at play, I asked for my bill and to cancel my order. They were hellbent on not serving me, and I lacked the dignity and self awarenwss to leave sooner. I didnt order an appetizer and I didnt take too long ordering my food. The bar top was dirty and had spilled beverage fluid on it when I sat down. Wow! They dont believe in wiping down bar tops when customers leave. I asked for my bill after I witnessed the two parties receive a full service when I received no food. I should’ve left when they refused to seat me when I arrived…but I like to give people and establishments the benefit of the doubt. I was waiting an extremely long time. I finally got up asked for my bill and canceled the pizza order. It was then that I was told my food was ready if I still wanted it. I said no, canceled the order, paid over a $5 tip for an $8 drink that was alcohol-contained. I did see another person in the restaurant that looked like me, but they were apart of a group/ party of people that was apart of the majority of the identity of the patrons they were serving. I arrived alone. I didnt have that top cover. Again, it was the family’s arrival that prompted them to sit me down. So, if you are not escorted by certain types of people, you can’t service. This establishment seems great for everyone else, but it was a terrible experience for me overall. I guess in this city I live in, I can’t eat just anywhere. And dont think a status matters. I’m a military veteran, things like this can happen to anyone.

We visited for dinner and enjoyed ourselves. We ordered two pizzas, they are handmade and about 12”. We got a sausage/pepperoni and the Truffle Pie. The server asked if we wanted ranch on the side with the truffle pie pizza. We were confused with this question and it was too busy to ask why ranch might be needed. Overall the pizzas were great, atmosphere was good and we’d return again.

The Desmond was delicious, and had a great atmosphere. The reason I took off a star was because the chairs at the table we sat at were wooden and had a small seat. They weren’t very comfortable. It would be nice if the bar chairs were at the table. Otherwise, this place was great, and I look forward to visiting again.

Cute place in a fun bustling part of downtown near the Footprint center and other restaurants. We really enjoyed its sister pub right next door the kettle black kitchen and pub. Had our kids with us so we ordered 2 different pizzas just a plain pepperoni and the Desmond. Both were OK but nothing exciting. A little overcooked and burnt and patches which can easily happen with brick oven pizza. I loved the décor and the quaint little pub style restaurant. But I’m sure if I would choose it again over the other options on this same block. If I did Try it again I would try some of the sandwich options that seemed interesting. I enjoyed a couple drinks and both were very tasty.
