The Depot opened in 1975 in the historic Trailways Bus Depot in downtown Albany. Since our opening, we have continued to be one of the areas favorite restaurants. Consistent quality, fresh ingredients and great service are hallmarks of The Depot experience.

Fried clams, yummy! I got the fish and chips with a salad and the salad had a bunch of shrimp which i wasn’t expecting. It was great. The fish wasn’t hand dipped and was a little under cooked but it was ok. Atmosphere was impressive, small but cool. Really reasonable prices.

Unique fish and chips restaurant. I have been crushing the fried Havarti cheese sticks since I was able to eat solid foods. The breading is delicious and the fish is soft and flaky. Great salads, cocktail sauce, and the french fries are homestyle cut and delicious. You can keep yourself entertained with all of the trinkets and antiques displayed. Beyond the great food, I have to mention that the service is incredible every time I go, not just because I am there about once per month, but because they are always hustling to keep my drinks full and plates loaded even when busy. Thanks Depot for years of consistent tasty grub!

First time here, we ordered take-out. Everything was freshly made to order. The fish was some of the better that we have had, a little on the overdone side but tasty, nonetheless. The shrimp salad that came with the fish was nice size portion and very refreshing. The homemade cocktail sauce is heavy on the horseradish. The 6-piece fish dinner is enough for 2 people, the only thing would be a few more fries! The Havarti bread sticks were good, fried a little too long side and kind of had a moldy taste, the calamari were a bit overdone as well. The New England clam chowder actually stayed hot throughout the meal after we got home. It was thick and creamy and really tasty. Lots of clams in the chowder. Will be back.

I got the combo with muscles, scallops, cod, and shrimp. Clam chowder and fresh cut fries. I think these were the best fries I have had in years. They taste exactly like the ones my dad would make me when I was a kid.
It was all good except the Dr. Pepper. I never send things back but did with the Dr. Pepper. I am not sure exactly was wrong with it. It tasted like a glass of water someone put a bit of carbonation in and maybe a shot worth of old doctor pepper. That’s kinda what it was like. She mentioned that that spout has issues sometimes so that’s probably what it was.
The fish was pretty good, didn’t have as much flavor as what’s on the coast, a lot larger cod pieces than I thought, coconut shrimp was perfect, didn’t love the muscles but I think that’s just personal preference. The scallops were very good tho. The chowder was pretty solid but not my fav.
Next time, I’ll be getting double French fries and some coconut shrimp and a water. I loved those fries so much.
Service was great and it was fun listening to her talk to customers about her life. I also absolutely loved the atmosphere and the salt water fish tanks!!
On my next 2 times here, the fish was very rubbery, tasted pretty bad. Fries were dry as well. Hasn’t been this amazing since the first time I was there.

Great place to eat for that spontaneous bite. First time here. Like the salt water tanks to gaze at. Nice touch. Friendly staff and very helpful. Was a good crowd at lunch time. I ordered the famous clam chowder bowl and pesto pasta salad. Appetizer was havarti cheese sticks yum yum! I would highly recommend this place for food and atmosphere. Great spot for dine in and or take out. adventure. Cheers

It’s small but packed with interesting decorations on the walls, hanging from the ceilings and most everywhere. The clam chowder was really delicious. There was nothing really special about the deep fried shrimp. The plates had a large bed of salad with a generous amount of shrimp on them and fresh cut fries. It wasn’t nearly as tasty though, as the clam chowder, but the service was fine and the way the restaurant was decorated made it a pleasant dining experience.

It’s been 20 years since I’ve been here and the food and atmosphere are still great. I definitely need to find more excuses to go to Albany. Fish was fresh and the fries and salad were top notch. We used to drive here from Portland quite often for fish and chips when I was a kid and it’s great to see the the new owners have stayed with a winning formula. Keep up the good work.

Come here on ever special family occasion. We love it. Havarti cheese sticks are ligit THE BEST we adore that because we have lives here in this town since children. That this is THE place that doesn’t change. The decor, the service, the food. All great!
