Reviews
I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience at The Den Sports Bar and Lounge for their Halloween event was one of the worst I’ve ever had.
I purchased a VIP pass and was pleased to get in quickly — that was the only positive part of the night. Within the first five minutes, my friend accidentally brushed against a Halloween decoration because the bar was extremely crowded. A tall, bald, robust man who claimed to be the manager (and looked like a bouncer) immediately started yelling at us. He was extremely aggressive, sarcastic, and got in my face, threatening to kick us out.
Instead of calmly addressing the situation, he spoke to us like we were children. I’m a 34-year-old professional who came to enjoy the event, not be disrespected or intimidated by staff. The manager continued to harass and threaten us throughout the night, which completely ruined the experience.
To make matters worse, I also noticed what appeared to be **underage drinking**, as bartenders weren’t checking IDs and were serving people who looked far too young to be there.
Overall, I felt **disrespected, unsafe, and unwelcome**. For an establishment that charges for VIP access, the behavior of the staff — especially someone claiming to be a manager — was completely unacceptable. I won’t be returning, and I strongly urge others to think twice before attending events here.
I tried the Black & Bleu Burger,8oz patty grilled , topped with melted Bleu Cheese, Thick-Cut Bacon, & Caramelized Onions. Very good with great French fries with the skin on.
My wife ordered the Quinoa Salad, Quinoa, Whipped Goat Cheese, Red & Golden Beets, and Arugula with A Balsamic Reduction Drizzle. Really nice dish.
Overall it was just alright- probably not a repeat stop- too many other choices in downtown Fort Lauderdale!
My friend stood up for me, but the situation escalated, with him using foul language towards us. This was unacceptable behavior from someone supposed to provide a safe environment .
Additionally, I noticed underage drinking occurring, as young individuals were being served without any age verification.
Overall, the rudeness of the staff and the lack of proper management made for an unpleasant experience. I won’t be returning and cannot recommend this venue.
We had gone into this place a few years back and it was really crowded because of a concert we were going to,, we only had drinks. Finding ourselves in a hurry to go to another concert we figured we’d get a quick bite. Our server was petite, sweet, very young. It was empty for the most part. The menu was very small and I can see why! I ordered beer, battered onion rings, and my wife ordered a burger that came with fries. Typical bar food!
After using the restroom, the server came back and I ordered a twisted tea they had on tap. (Photo below) I was given an IPA and promptly told her that wasn’t a twisted tea and she adamantly said she poured it right from the twisted tea tapper. I told her it tasted like a apple and pear flavored IPA. And then asked her if she could go to the other side of the bar and, see if it was correct. She did and realize her mistake. Two minutes later, she came out with our food. I sure wish I had a photo of the onion rings she placed in front of me. My wife said no you didn’t! (meaning, no you did not bring those out and put them in front of us) I looked at the server and said “you would bring these to my table, they’re burnt”. She said the Cook guaranteed they were good, even though she said she didn’t agree with him. I took a small bite and it felt like someone caramelize the greasy batter, it was one shade off of black! I told her I worked at an entertainment establishment and if somebody brought that to a guest, they would be immediately fired!
Needless to say, I watched my wife eat her burger, which was decent.
Upon finishing I approached the manager and told him about my experience, and the fact they automatically charge 20% tip, I normally leave a cash tip. He knew nothing of the situation. I was outraged but kept my cool knowing I will write a review and hopefully they will be more apologetic to the next patron.
Maybe a lesson learned is that anytime food goes back a manager needs to be notified so corrective measures and apologies can be offered.
This is not an eatery for sober guests it’s more a 11PM to 4AM club! The atmosphere is very outdated and grungy looking!
