What an outstanding place to grab a sub sandwich. The high quality meats the bread just amazing, could be the best sub I’ve had in NM. Yes its pricey but to me it’s well worth it. The staff was very attentive and friendly.

Ordered and paid for expensive sandwich online. Received email confirmation. Waited more than the prescribed 30 minutes to pick up. Ignored by the two people behind the counter when I arrived. They actually started to walk off until I said I was there for a take out order. They seemed unaware. One said she would fix it right away and bring to my car. Yes, she did throw together what ended up being a very disappointing sandwich, especially for close to $20. When she handed it to me in my car, it felt cold. I asked if it wasn’t supposed to be heated. She assured me that she had toasted it, but when I got home and opened it, that obviously was not true. It had not been heated at all. In past year, my husband and I have always found these sandwiches delicious and large enough to share. This year, they are no better than Subway, and customer service is inattentive and unapologetic. I think this is my only restaurant review ever. And it’s my only review that is not 5 stars. Usually if something is sub par, I can let it go because I figure the business tries its best. Sassella does not and does not seem to care.

East Coaster not impressed by deli.
Living in Hoboken, NJ, has left me bereft of a true Italian-American experience.
Sorry guys, I had reasonably higher than average hopes for a true salumeria experience.
$18 plus tax and tip for an “Italian sub”. WOW! The sandwich was a barely reasonable size especially for that amount of money.
The bread was Subway-style soft. A true deli bread should be crusty on outside and soft on inside.
The deli meat was sliced nice and thin (good!) and very good quality.
But meat was not piled high – pretty meager.
Cheese was truly mediocre – should have offered hard sharp provolone chunks.
The toppings should have included lots of crisp lettuce, onions, hot peppers, maybe oregano, and olive oil and red vinegar.
It should have been presented as a piled high masterpiece but was just meh.
Kuane’s is half the price and double the attention to detail.

A charming neighborhood gem with sweet picnic tables and umbrellas… cool selection of stuff and the nicest staff. I grabbed a sandwich and it was delicious. The only reason I’m not giving five stars is that it is quite expensive. Will need to save this place for special occasions as I can’t afford a $16 sandwich every day – even if it is made with high quality ingredients. (This may not be an issue for some guests, but important to note for me.)

My wife and I loved this place but were super disappointed by our visit today. Usually the sandwiches are well worth the price, as it’s enough food for two people to split. The sandwich we got today was super sad, but somehow the same price. Still delicious, but definitely not worth $20. Hope they go back to the way it was.

Amazing sandwiches! Also had so much else to buy such as bread, deli items, pastas, sauces, pastes, chocolate, beverages and tiramisu. You get both quantity and quality. Lovely service as well.

Just “Cosi, Cosi”
Sassella’s sandwichs have a high bar for “right coast” style sandwiches.
Lots of meat but doesn’t hit the target!
Mortadella sandwhich missing provolone, tomato but “Dijon Mustard”? Pepperoncini, what are those?
More like a high end subway and $$$ for a 6″ sandwhich.
Full disclosure, I’m an East Coast lover of Italian cuisine and deli.
NYC, Boston, Providence have amazing “Subs, Grinders and Hoagies.

The charcuterie platters, while a bit pricey, are very generous and quite tasty. A great, easy way to supply appetizers for your meat-eating friends.

Ordered toasted mufaletta and mortadella sandwiches. Spendy, but the quality ingredients were piled high. Other Italian specialties and deli items at this great deli!
