Ever since we moved to the area a year ago, we’ve been looking for a good authentic sub sandwich place: this is now it! I walked in and asked the man behind the counter what he recommends in the way of a great Italian sub: he told me to try their Mad Italian. I asked for the 12 inch with everything on it except onions. This sub was absolutely delicious! We will be back and recommend others to go too!

I’m very transparent in my reviews as I own several restaurants and bars in North Carolina. That being said. When you walk in it gives off the old school deli vibes. Which is cool. You’re not greeted or told goodbye, have a nice day, etc. when I walk to the counter it was just a “yes” given by the gentleman. The sandwiches we had are basic toppings, which is okay. But needed salt and pepper. Not really any seasoning. It’s $20 for a foot long and $15 for a 8 inch. The meats and cheeses are fresh and high quality. But that’s not what makes a deli a deli in my opinion. The staff needs to make it feel like it and welcoming. The gentleman, which I assume is the owner or some type of manager honestly just seemed tired. I don’t know if he’s burnt out or what. Just seems he wants to be out of this kind of business.

Family owned small deli, which i like. Small but had everything you need. Love that they are freshly made right when you order. I highly recommend Spicy Italian. It is to die for. So fresh and taste great!
Please try to order by calling the deli directly or order when you get there unless you are going to get it delivered. Because if you order on line, they charge more per sandwich, service charge and they get 30% of total from the deli.
Please help them by ordering by calling the store directly!

If you want a real Italian sub then this is the place to go. This is one of our absolute favorite spots and we haven’t been let down yet. The Mad Italian is our go-to but you could get any sub and enjoy. Note: The Mad Italian is a huge sub, so it’s big enough to share with another person.

I had lost hope of finding a fantastic local deli that specialized in Italian sandwiches long ago…until one day I discovered…The Deli Herndon. Starting off with the amazing decor, including some very vintage Washington Redskins memorabilia, I was immediately entranced in the experience that is The Deli Herndon. Next, I was pleasantly surprised at the great soda & beverage options, truly a mark of a great deli. Then…I was on the clock! Rule 1 of a local deli is to order quickly and have as little substitutions/variations as possible. The extremely friendly staff at The Deli Herndon assembled my two sandwiches in record time and just like that my experience had come to an end, I almost wanted to get back in line right away again just to do it all again. Finally…the first bite…exquisite. I got the “Mad Italian” and I can’t wait to do it all over again. Sandwich 10/10, staff 10/10, setting/decor 10/10. RUN don’t walk to my new favorite sandwich establishment…The Deli Herndon.

Disappointing. Maybe my mistake for ordering a steak and cheese instead of a straight Italian of some sort. The steak was obviously cooked in advance. But it wasn’t warm enough to melt the cheese. I’ll give it one more shot sometime with an Italian. And I got the same attitude others
have mentioned in their reviews. I expect that in New York City, but not here…

I went to the deli for a quick sandwich. I got a snooty attitude from the girl, that looked at the owner as if haha, you can wait on her. I will not go there again. Twenty dollars for a sandwich is a bit too much for that kind of treatment. You lost a long time customer!

4/5!
Definitely a fan of The Deli! I decided to try this place out after hearing all the positive reviews about their subs. I can say, was not disappointed. The store is a very simple Italian deli. You walk in, browse the menu and order at the counter, and it’ll be made in seconds.
The Food: I went with the Mad Italian, which came with Capicola, Mortadella, Pepperoni, Genoa and Provolone. All the meats and ingredients worked very well together and everything there was quality. They were very generous with the portions as well. I left very full and satisfied.
The Service: The employees were nice. I came at a busy lunch time, but that gave me time to browse the menu and see all of their different selections. Once I ordered at the counter, they made my order fairly quickly and had me on my way. Overall, a smooth experience.
I’ll be back here again! Always nice to know there’s a place around me that offers quality Italian subs.
