The year was 1943, and Jim and Alice Wimmer decided to take a big risk, buying a small existing roadside restaurant known for its char-broiled steaks. How fitting that in 2018, the restaurant’s 75th anniversary year, the third generation of Wimmers, Amy Wimmer, takes the helm from her father Jeff and his wife Jane, bringing her own adventurous spirit to the Del-Bar, the same kind of spirit she so admired in her grandparents. Start to finish, the experience was simply amazing. The service never missed the mark. As soon as a dish emptied, someone would pick it up. Great team effort. The food was incredibly delicious and we just could not resist upgrading sides and additions. Well worth every bite! Didn’t get a picture of the calamari and couldn’t get pictures of the other items before taking a few bites first! Very hard to resist! Can’t wait to go back! Always worth the stop – You will not be disappointed.

We enjoyed ourselves. Something on the menu for everybody keeping in mind this is a supper club not a discount dining place, I still feel the value of the food was good. You sat outside and luckily there was a small roof that covers most of the outside dining area because we had a little sprinkle. Turned out to be a good choice. No room for desserts!

I’d heard of this place growing up but I had never been here when we were on vacation. It was a really cool place to go. The lobster was great. The escargo was interesting. It really had a cool vibe being 80 years old and was just different than a lot of other places I ate at. With highly recommend we only had about four people in our group in the bill was over 300 so just be aware that it’s very high end but it was definitely worth it for this vacation and being able to eat at this place

We finally made it and enjoyed the service and atmosphere very much. We had the Escargot and Shrimp DeJonghe appetizers. The Escargot was perfect one of the best we have had. The shrimp were over cooked and dry and not very hot. A huge disappointment for $12.00.

Right on the main drag in the Dells. So much for atmosphere. So far, so good although the dirty martini was not dirty and the prices are out of sight!

What can I say that hasn’t already been said. We each had the flat iron steaks, they melted in our mouths. Absolutely fantastic!!! We were celebrating our anniversary, and they treated us as royalty.

Excellent food. We had the tempura asparagus, scallops, and I had the Filet with loaded potato. Everything we ate was scrumptious and levels above any other dining experience we had in the Dells. Highly recommend this restaurant, BUT make reservations in advance.

This was my first supper club experience. Atmospherically it was everything I desired, until we were seated in the outside porch area. It’s not really outside, but feels like a separate restaurant than where it is old school when you walk in. It was too bright and we had an air conditioner blowing on us that was freezing. Said air continued multiple times blowing out my butter candle for my lobster tail. The lobster tail was not very tasty. Too much of a fishy smell and taste, however the texture was good. I would not get the lobster again. We also had ribeye with bone marrow butter (exquisite umami flavor!) and filet steaks. Sweet potato fries and stuffed mushrooms were on point. The blue cheese salad and french onion soup were superb. Though the stars of the table were the mashed potatoes and the mushrooms. Absolutely amazing. We tried both Old Fashioneds, they were quite tasty also. Service was slow but ok. The worst thing we ate were the pot stickers. Only ate a couple and did not take the rest home. Very pricey, but I would go back.

We kept hearing if you want a great steak, Del-Bar is the place to go… and it lived up to the hype… It was one of the best meals of my life. We used Open Table app to reserve our table for 2. The Oysters Rockefeller appetizer was fantastic, and the calamari rings were so fresh & delicate, but if you don’t order the spinach salad with hot bacon dressing as a side dish starter, you’re missing out. I also had the aged boneless ribeye medium rare & it was perfect; chose the hashed brown potatoes as my other side. Son had the filet mignon rare, which I’m normally not a huge fan of, but it was so tender & amazing, I might think twice next time. The Old Fashioned mixers were not the best I ever had but they were very tasty, but I realized later that I messed up & should have ordered red wine for the entrée; won’t make that mistake next time. Please treat yourself & a loved one to this dining experience. You won’t regret it.

Excellent restaurant. We came in for drinks and appetizers. We had a wonderful experience with our server, Megan. She was 100% on the ball with service, and very friendly. She recommended us drinks, including her personal favorite, which we went with, and were absolutely pleased with the taste of a jubilee martini. We ordered the calamari and Cesar salad and loved both of them. The calamari was well cooked and while just a salad, it was certainly a good salad made with fresh produce.
