The Davis Country Store and Cafe has been been my go-to place as a visitor to NC. So far I’ve had a absolutely delicious BBQ pork dinner with mac n cheese, potato salad and a drink. Breakfast was excellent too! Bacon, egg and cheese on a huge homemade biscuit… filled me up well for a busy day. Just as important as the amazing food; Amy, the owner, Susan and the young man helping are so friendly and welcoming!!! I highly recommend this cute cafe both for the delicious home cooked food as well as the good company!

Fantastic food, friendly people.
Takes a few minutes because most things are cooked FRESH AND HOT when you order it. Be patient and enjoy the awesome food!

I know customer service is dead but this service was terrible. Waited 30 plus minutes for non edible biscuits and gravy that didn’t have the sausage that we paid extra for. My sandwich had sausage instead of bacon and when I asked about it I was just told “sorry we got busy”. There was 6 people in the place and they waited equally as long. The sandwich was very good I will give them that but the overall experience was terrible.

*Response to the owner.
You should review the footage again because it was never offered to remake the sandwich and I was the one who suggested maybe he just gave my food away to someone else and he agreed. We were told it would be a 10 minute wait after we ordered our food and we went and spent more money at your establishment and still wait 30 plus minutes. You never addressed the fact that we paid for sausage that we never got and if your chef is proud of that then I’m sorry. If the young men there can’t handle a very small rush on a Saturday morning and smile at least once then maybe you should address that. Instead of being defensive maybe you should address the issues at hand instead of blaming customers.

I stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon and had literally the best sausage biscuit of my life. Everything on the menu looked good and I wished I was hungry enough to try more! The people are so kind and give back to their community (free meals for children during the government shutdown for just one example). I’m not sure if this happens every week but there was a group of sweet local folks jamming music that afternoon in there which was a lot of fun. The best place to stop whether you’re local or driving through to or from WNC!

The ppl are wonderful in here, teenager and up are friendly and inviting! The food was wonderful each time I’ve been!! The atmosphere is truly that of a country store… lots of cool little things too look at while the kitchen is making things from scratch one taste brings me back to.high school days when I’d eat at friends houses or grandma’s houses.

Livermush biscuits. That’s all you need to know! Just kidding, this is a great little cafe that treats regulars as family. Prices are good but the food is better!

I finally made it down to Old Fort to try The Davis Country Store & Cafe. I got their Reuben on Rye that they are known for. I was originally drawn to them because of the Livermush Biscuit I saw on facebook. Unfortunately I arrived well after breakfast was being served. They have a nice variety of sandwiches, but when the young man mentioned that their corned beef was house made I absolutely had to try it!
The order was counter service but I still left a tip because I want to support this business and employees. I grabbed my drink and a seat and looked around the dining room at all the unique items they have on display.
There are multiple farms, soapers, quilters, candle makers, ect, a doorway leading out of the dining room was the country store. I visited it before I left. While I waited on my Reuben Amy, the owner came out and chatted with me about biscuits and livermush and pastries and such. In no time I had a steamy warm meaty Rueben in my hands. That thing was thick! The corned beef was shaved at the perfect thickness and just the right amount of sauerkraut and sauce. I ate half and saved the rest for eating right before my shift.
I checked out the country store. There was so much locally made stuff that I ended up leaving with a few items. To my surprise I found some very friendly bunnies and ducks! I left with some whipped tallow that smells amazing and a jar of pickled okra because you can never have enough pickled okra.
I just wanted to give these guys a shout out. If you’re ever down in Old Fort and find yourself hungry I highly recommend!

Stopped into Old Fort on Sunday morning on the way back from Gatlinburg looking for something to eat other than highway exit food? Boy were my wife and I treated to two of the best sandwiches we’ve had in a very very long time.
Outstanding chicken salad on a fresh croisamt and the wife had the huge ruben. People don’t make sandwiches like this anymore.

Food, service, conversation, decor, and thrift store, all perfect. Do yourselves a favor, get off the highway and drive the mile into town. You will not be disappointed.

A++++

This place does so much for the community. We went there the night of the old fort Christmas parade. The food is made fresh when you order so while you wait you can wonder around the attached store. We loved looking in the used record section. The food was delicious and the portions were large. We were able to take our food on the porch to watch the parade. It kinda feels like you are at your extended family’s house. It was a very small town hallmark
movie experience. We even won a raffle prize from the gateway museum around the corner and they walked it over to us at the cafe!

Met a friend here for lunch, such an adorable country store & restaurant downtown Old Fort. We had a cozy little table by the window. Super friendly, yummy fresh bread, amazing chicken salad on a fluffy croissant – they have gifts like candles and herbals teas. Looking forward to going back to try their breakfast! ☕
