Great dive bar that’s stepping its game up with a brand new patio, overhauled summer menu, and karaoke 6 nights a week. Come for the new vibes, stay for the old ones (pool tables and cheap drinks!).

As far as the area goes it is nice to have a dive bar available. Staff acts like it’s their house but that is not unusual for dive bars. I would say it was overstaffed for the small area, a handful of people looked confused and didn’t know what to do with themselves and weren’t there for any particular reason. They are now doing karaoke every night except Mon and Tuesday. I think this is bc the owners daughter likes to sing so they turned it in to a personal performance studio. Lots of kitchy adolescent music from the preformers, more like a teen-center type of preference. I don’t feel that it suits the place and I have noticed the clientele seems to follow suite, pretty much all children. Probably be better off with a solo musician with a guitar or just the jupbox. It’s primarily very young kids who act onery with just a general air of disrespect and no reason to know any better. Watch your drink here. Not the safest place for solo woman. Def some creepy older men hanging around as well. I met the owner once and they seemed nice. Probably ltl hope of improving on the clientele, as it is the only dive left in Portsmouth it will continue to bring in undesirables. I’m glad it exists either way.

I’ve been here several times for karaoke with friends and usually have a decent experience.
During my most recent visit, while exiting near the pool table (an exit I’ve used before), an older bald man with glasses (staff member/bouncer) yelled at me not to leave that way. As I stepped back to exit through the front door instead, he aggressively grabbed my arm. I was genuinely frightened and felt unsafe—this was completely unprovoked and unacceptable physical behavior.
I left immediately and didn’t feel comfortable speaking to management that night, but I wanted to address it here. This situation should be taken seriously. Ladies, please be cautious.

A great little bar! My husband and I stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon and ended up staying for 5 hours. We played pool, borrowed a cribbage board from behind the bar and played with another couple and heard some people sing karaoke. There is a shot wheel at the bar and we had a blast watching other people find out what shot they were going to take. The bartenders are super attentive and friendly and the bathroom was clean. I loved it so much that I bought a Daniel Street Tavern flannel that I proudly wear around my upstate NY area. I can’t wait to plan another trip just to hang out here!

RACIST COMMENTS . I have always loved this place. Karaoke is fun. I had a friend go in who is Japanese and the bartender made racist comments to her to the point she started crying. I’ve seen her take a lot of comments but never cry. When I asked what was said, the bouncer backed the person who made the comments and kicked me out of the bar

Whether you are from out of town and want to experience Portsmouth, or a local who wants to come to a bar where everybody knows your name, this is the place. The recent addition of the lobster roll elevates it to the next level, having tried it it is the best deal going. Delicious and fresh!

It’s a terrible dive bar. The atmosphere is dated and dusty, the air quality is poorly ventilated, the food is old, the staff is incredibly rude (they don’t let people in after 12:15a), and the pool tables eat quarters. It’s the worst place I’ve had the displeasure of stepping into in years.

Best place ever. Marge, her sons, the rest of the staff are all amazing people who look out for their patrons. From the drink list, the atmosphere, the pizza, karaoke, pool tables, it’s all 10/10. One thing I took notice to, was the male staff are protective of female patrons, keeping an eye on them/their drinks and any situations that may be uncomfortable. Aleays checking in to make sure patrons are enjoying their time. Ifeel so safe here, as a woman going out alone, I won’t go anywhere else. And I have met some lifelong friends here, which I am insanely thankful for. If you want to find your chosen family, go down to Dstreet!! The tavern also just got some renovations done as well. It’s looking sharper than ever! Don’t listen to the bad reviews, they probably did something to get kicked out and are being bitter. Highly recommend Daniel Street Tavern!!

Melissa and Jeff are the only bartenders I would spend mt time with. The first night I got treated like a true human being (I was there on friday night). Night 2 (I went on a Sunday, the karaokes dj ignored me tor as long as he could. ” absolutely trash, I won’t waste my time in the future.

Local spot for sure. The floors were sticky, and the food was good. We were in and out on a Saturday afternoon for a quick bite, but you could tell good times are had here.
