I’m a long-time patron of this establishment, and generally, I think it’s very good. Thus, it came as a surprise that when I ordered smoked salmon on a bagel without cream cheese I was informed that since it’s a pre-made sandwich, I could only get it with cream cheese. They acknowledged that they had the salmon and the bagels, but according to the manager, it was against their policy to make a fresh sandwich. They make custom-ordered sandwiches all the time, but for some bizarre reason, putting salmon on a bagel is not allowed? Of note, they weren’t very busy when I was there, there were staff members standing around with nothing to do, so it wasn’t about time. I hope they revisit this policy. It’s poor customer service over something ridiculously easy for them to just do. My star rating only applies to this visit.

We just needed a good breakfast sammie, and sadly, did not get it here. It took a couple tries to get our order right, and my bacon egg and cheese sandwich really had zero discernible flavor. My husband said the same about his with ham. My latte also came out barely room temp-like they had just poured cold milk in with the espresso maybe? I mean, it would be really hard to make coffee as cool as it came out. Disappointing and overpriced all around.

Went today for breakfast. I have eaten lunch many times but this was the first time for breakfast. I ordered an Egg, Bacon and Cheese on Bagel. It was grilled and so good. I will be back for breakfast. I love the assortment of ice teas. My favorite is the Tangerine Green Tea.

We looked forward to a visit to The Daily Bread. The menu looked interesting and the location was good. I saw a winter item on the menu board…a seeet chili turkey club. It included cibatta bread, turkey, bacon, avocado and other items. The place was packed, so seemed popular. The sandwich was on toasted cibatta, but it was toasted too much…it was hard and dry. In fact, the bread was so sry and hard that it roughed up my mouth. Also no matter how hard I looked I could not detect any avocado. The turkey was dry, but the bacon was good. My wife also had a special sandwich. The bread was super dry and the sandwich not too enjoyable. Sad it wasn’t a great meal, it had potential. The restaurant is clean, but pretty basic and sterile. Maybe it was just what we ordered…or the high volume of orders and giving it another try may be worth it, not sure we will go back.

Family owned local business that didn’t disappoint. I was surprised by the variety of choices available to choose from. Breakfast, lunch, and bakery open until 4 pm. My 1/2 sandwich and soup were the perfect combination. I went out of my usual taste pallet and was not disappointed with the wild rice and chicken soup. They can get real busy, so please be patient.

There’s some massive sass going on between the deli counter and the bakery. The sandwich was tasty (sonoma chicken sandwich) albeit the bread it was on was suuuuper hard (to be fair, I was there late in the day, so it was probably a bit stale). Good flavors, the brownie was excellent, a weird energy between the staff was interesting.

I just moved to the area and wanted to try out the local coffee, so this was my first stop. I got an iced latte and a chocolate chip cookie. The staff was very friendly and the latte was delicious. The chocolate chip cookie was just okay, but overall, it was a great experience and I will be back.

love this place. it is a Des Peres staple and has been for several years. I have absolutely no complaints about the food or the smiling faces of the workers, but I noticed when I paid the other day the card reader did not leave an option to leave them a tip. When I asked a cashier, they told me they’re no longer encouraging patrons to tip. If they are offered, they can accept. but otherwise they dont ask for them. I dont know where this logic comes from considering the food service and its workers make all their money from tips? So unless the employees are all getting paid $17 plus an hour, I would think that tips would be appreciated by the staff. Hopefully the owners and management will rescind this inane policy. The food, coffee and service are all superior-allow us to show that when we visit.
