Service and food were okay. I had the breakfast buffet and it was not worth it. I would expect more for a $24 breakfast buffet. I had better and this was not it. Breakfast was simple and I wish there was more options like hash brown, sausage patty, etc. Buffet had the usual options: fruits, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, bread, bagels, and muffin. It’s interesting because once you finish your first plate they set you the bill already, but I took my time so should you.

Food was great (veggies were cooked but still firm and tasty, salmon was nummy – could have been cooked less but I’m a snob, pilaf was great), not too spendy, wait staff was not only patient with my allergy questions, they were very attentive without hovering. The bar is very typical of a hotel bar, open to the lobby and elevator areas, but even with a game on, still pretty chill. And there’s a POPCORN MACHINE!

I had the avocado, egg and tomato on a bagel with fresh fruit and mint tea. The avacado was fresh sliced as was the tomato which was perfect! I had the was a little more hard scrambled than expected but was still very good. The fruit fruit was decent. The melons did not have much flavor but the berries were great. I would order this again.

Only in Sacramento will a Holiday inn charge you for a basic buffet breakfast. It was nothing special, it’s the same spread you will get at any other Holiday across the country. It did the job.

Buffet Only: there is no menu and you cannot order — the eggs had raw’ish cut tomatoes mixed in which might have been ok, and the oatmeal wouldn’t have passed grandma’s opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I’m filled and happy. And at $8.99 a dozen, I might have actually eaten $25 in eggs. The waitresses were awesome: I think they both had helped me and probably their tips aren’t shared so I’m sorry I didn’t pick one and stay to just them — it’s a buffet and confusing.

First, understand there may only be two restaurants in downtown Sacramento that are open at 630 or 7am with menus that list actual eggs, i.e, omelettes vs frittata and the sort. Cypress was one. I won’t belabor this, but I was seated by loud clientele making family and friend calls on speaker phone. When the waitress came, I ordered an omelette and coffee. The coffee was light brown water. I asked for something “stronger” and the waitress brought something a little darker but it wasn’t coffee unless it was used grinds with lemon peel. Horrible. I promptly tipped the waitress (who was actually good/friendly), then I left fearing the food may be equally appetizing.

I had breakfast here yesterday morning. Stephanie was SO friendly and accommodating for my picking eating. I have stayed at this hotel for probably 12 or 13 years but had never eaten in the restaurant. I will definitely be going back!!

This restaurant is located in Holiday Inn Capital Plaze. This was my first time ever eating at this restaurant.
After being seated I was served my sweet raspberry tea. Service was quick and I place my order fast. The next thing I received was my soup (creamy tomato). Besides the service being good, the rest of my experience was terrible.

My entrée was awful. Salmon with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables and I added a side of rice pilaf. The salmon was edible; however it came wrapped in parchment paper, so by the time I dug out the meat I only got three small bites. The rice pilaf was no were closed to being fully cooked. The steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes had absolutely no flavor.

The only good things I can say are the soup, tea and service were good.

The breakfast buffet is great & I think a reasonable price, with tax $16.27. Beverages included & multiple of you want like tea or coffee AND juice. The buffet was great: variety of fruits, milk & chocolate milk, yogurt, scrambled eggs but you can request eggs to order, breakfast potatoes, bacon, sausage, oatmeal with optional toppings, French toast, toast/bread. I think I listed it all? LOL was very good & filling.

Sacramento Holiday Inn. Eating breakfast at The Cyprus Grille. Just a tiny buffet but the quality of even something as basic as Scrambled Eggs or bacon! Believe this New York Restaurant School alumna- the taste is out of this world. And the Buffet opens at 6 a.m. on Weekdays so for all of us early birds it’s very convenient indeed!
