Worst curry house in Newbury. We have ordered from them a few times, initially they were fine. However their service now is awful. Expect to wait at least two hours for your curry, even if just eat says differently. The worst part is that they tell you the curry is on its way, and then the courier says an hour later that they only left 15 minutes ago. Happened multiple times so seriously advise finding somewhere else to order from

I’m saddened to being putting this bad review but it’s to many times to be a one off now.
Firstly I must say this take away has always been one of my favourite curry houses to go to for a curry that they have made me for several years that I’ve not been able to get anything tasting remotely the same anywhere else.
The last 4 or 5 times I’ve ordered from here the delivery service has been shocking taking over 2 /3 hours each time.
When phoning up to complain you just end up being fobbed off with reasons including things such as the company has been taken over now and were trying to get used to things.
The only reason I’ve continued for so long is due to the fact they make my favourite curry.
Due to the fact I’ve thought the delivery service has been shocking for the last couple of years I decided the other night to order the food and drive to collect it. 40 minutes was the wait time..perfectly reasonable.
One reaching the establishment after 40/45 minutes i then had to wait there for an additional 1 hour and 30 minutes on top of the originally stated time frame.
Finally getting the food and rushing home as now at this point I’m so hungry and so are my family, we take the food out of the bag and we’re missing some items, also one of the curries had 4 pieces of chicken and a small amount of sauce in the tub.
4 small pieces of chicken for the prices paid along with the shocking service numerous times in a row has now left me annoyed and leaving this review.
This place has gone down hill and doesn’t seem to have any empathy when you complain when somethings wrong.
2025 will now be the year I’ll switch to curry cave across the road who also do fantastic food along with good service inside the venue and also when delivering its always been on time

I don’t live in Newbury so I was sort of winging it somewhat but I settled upon the Curry House and it wasn’t too far from where I was staying to walk
I then read some of the latest reviews and there was some negative comments and a seed of doubt was planted but I decided to go with it. Boy am I glad I did!! I telephoned to make my order and the gentleman was very polite and helpful and answered any questions I had. The delivery charge was a reasonable one but i decided to walk in the end. I gave a time I’d collect and that was all noted. I had mentioned the discount advertised and was told it would be discounted as such.
I arrived just before scheduled time and didn’t have to wait long at all. Although busy with telephone calls and serving the young man at front of house (who I obviously spoke to earlier) we had a lovely exchange and he was very friendly and courteous.
He had honoured the discount and ut was even less than I thought. Plus I was given free poppadoms, mint chutney and onion salad as a bonus! Everything else was present and and correct. I ordered the chefs speciality of chicken garlic chilli masala, chicken tikka bhuna, tarka dal and brinjal bhaji. Even after I’d walked back and fiddled about getting myself organised when i got back everything was still super hot and unlike so many takeaways can be there was no slick of unnecessary oil on top just pure, vibrant deliciousness awaiting. They all taste beautiful and different. No generic nonsense here. I’d even been able to ask for my tarka dal to be thick (some i’ve had were like water). Im always worried about getting takeaways because they are usually really expensive and therefore a rare rare treat for me. However, here I’d go back in a heartbeat. Just gutted they’re not round where I live. Newbury you are blessed!

Food is great but place the order at least 2-3hrs before u want it..
Last 3 orders I’ve placed have been 2hrs minimum to arrive. Tonight we placed an order and decided to collect even though it’s a 15min drive to get there and be told they are running behind on orders!
If you know your going to be busy surely employ more staff!

Food was ready when they said it would be and the staff were so polite, welcoming and friendly.

This place never fails to impress but today’s delivery was absolutely spectacular. The lamb pasada was deliciously creamy and the lamb nice and tender. The garlic rice fluffy and full of flavour but not spoiling the main with overpowering garlic. Well done. We are lucky to have you in Newbury delivering such great quality of food.

I have been using The Curry House for years now and it has always been my go-to takeaway. Fantastic food every single time. I have been invited into the kitchen on multiple occasions and, after seeing a comment about flies in their food, can say there is nothing of the sort. Used to love the curry house ordered pretty much every other week, and was so happy I found a consistently good Indian takeaway as they all seem to go downhill! Unfortunately I can’t say that about them this evening, I’ve honestly never had a blander curry in all my life, (bare in mind I get vindaloo hot) the dish was edible but really not enjoyable – fingers crossed it’s just a one off!
