The Crossing Coffee Bar sits right in the heart of Elkins and has the kind of warm, small-town café atmosphere that makes you want to like it the moment you walk in. The shop itself is inviting, and the two girls working behind the counter were genuinely sweet and welcoming. Their hospitality gave the place an immediate charm and made the experience pleasant on a personal level.
Unfortunately, the coffee didn’t quite match the warmth of the service.
I ordered a flat white, but what came out was much closer to a poorly made cappuccino. The milk texture and ratios were off, and the drink lacked the smooth integration and balance you expect from a proper flat white. There were several basic preparation issues that suggested the baristas may not have had much training in espresso technique.
That said, the friendliness of the staff goes a long way, and places like this often improve quickly with a little more focus on coffee fundamentals. With better training and attention to the craft, The Crossing Coffee Bar could easily grow into a solid stop for Elkins locals and travelers alike.

The best coffee we’ve ever had! We’re visiting from New York, where there are countless coffee shops and flavors, but I have to say, The Crossing Coffee Bar has truly nailed it. With such a wide variety of options, this place is a must-visit. If you haven’t been yet, make sure it’s your next stop!

Their specialty options include pineapple upside down cake and Cinnamon Toast Crunch, both of which I tried in iced lattes when I was staying in the area Also tried a hotdog, pretty decent chili and good nacho cheese. Love that they have breakfast sandwiches you can grab to go, the one we tried on an English muffin was great!

I have traveled around the world and experience some amazing coffees in my life. I was stunned when I took my first sip at the Crossing Coffee Bar on Monday morning. I quickly realized this was the best coffee I had in my entire life! Taylor did an excellent job and I ended up buying some beans to take home with me! This is a fantastic place to stop by! There are about five places to sit near the coffee bar, with additional outdoor spots and some booths upstairs. Food and beverage-wise, you can find hot lunch specials and to-go foods, pastries from local shops, premium ice cream, bubble tea, power drinks, and lattes. While this is one of the higher-end priced coffee shops in town, I really enjoy the fun flavors and presentations they come up with weekly. Below is a sandwich board of the drink specials they had when Stranger Things Season 4 released, and the “Drink of Despair” latte I ordered when there was a Harry Potter drink lineup. They have milk alternatives, too, for the dairy-free folks. Additionally, the customer service is fantastic. You get a free drink (or the price of a medium off) after 10 stamps on a rewards card, so rewards card people will be delighted!

This is the quintessential small-town coffee shop. It has quirk and character as well as a classy marketplace attached to it. The coffee is really good, and they have tasty food choices that rotate daily throughout the week. The staff is surprisingly well-versed in coffee creations. It’s worth ordering some of them. The store seems to be set up more for ordering and perusing the market or to-go orders. I did both on my visit. It’s worth the stop if you find yourself in this charming mountain town.
