If you’re ever in Old Ellicott City and have a sweet tooth to satisfy (or a cheat day to celebrate), The Crazy Mason Milkshake Bar is the spot to hit! I ordered the pecan brownie waffle sundae, and it was definitely a decadent treat. The warm waffle had the perfect crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and the pecans added a nice nutty crunch. While the brownie chunks were a bit dry for my taste, the creamy ice cream and toppings helped balance it out, making it an overall satisfying and fun dessert experience.
One thing I really loved? The collectible mason jars! Most treats comes served in a custom-designed jar that you get to keep, and they even have a handy rinsing station so you can clean it before you head out. Super cute touch and great for those of us who love a little keepsake.
If you’re looking for something over-the-top, try their In a World of Pure Imagination shake—it’s colorful, crazy, and lives up to the name. Or go salty-sweet with the Peanut Butter Pretzel Madness.
Whether you’re visiting for the aesthetic, the sugar high, or just to try something fun and different, this place brings the wow. Bring your appetite—and maybe a friend to split the sugar overload with!
If you are looking for the ultimate dessert experience in Old Ellicott City, The Crazy Mason Milkshake Bar is an absolute must-visit. Located in a beautifully renovated historic theater, the atmosphere is just as cool as the treats themselves.
The menu of “Crazy Creations” is mind-blowing. I tried the ” You gotta be puddin Me” and substituted the vanilla cake for a brownie twas a treat. My friends tried the “Build Me Up Buttercup” and the “Short & Sweet” (which literally has a slice of pound cake on top!), and every single one was a work of art.
One of the best things about this place is the customization. If the signature shakes feel like “too much,” you can build your own “Simple Mason” by picking your own premium ice cream flavor and toppings. They even have fantastic non-dairy and vegan options (like the oat milk-based Mint To Be), so nobody feels left out.
The portions are massive, the ingredients are top-notch, and you even get to keep the custom mason jar as a souvenir! It’s the perfect spot for a celebration or just a fun afternoon walking Main Street. Don’t forget to hit the “Worsh Station” to clean your jar before you head home!
No apologies or offer to refund.
We won’t be back. There are far better establishments downtown EC to give our money too. I don’t know what they’re doing to their ice cream in there but it’s not good.
This was my first time, but my wife has been here multiple times with the kids. I originally wasn’t going to get anything, but Layla suggested that I get the top of the morning. While my wife got the s’mores hot chocolate, definitely my new go to thank you for your positive attitude and good customer service definitely had to leave this review Shout out to this hidden gem I will definitely be coming back
The Cobbler was great, but was very small. The whipped cream was disgusting with a wax like texture and taste. It would have been 5 stars if the cobbler had been a reasonable size.
Mint To Be Shake’s presentation was outstanding. Unfortunately, the super hard, perhaps stale brownie and nasty whipped cream was disappointing. The chocolate all over the cup was annoying. It definitely wasn’t worth $15 at all.
Strawberry ice cream was basic, not good. Häagen-Dazs ice cream would have been a better option especially for $4.50 + .75 for sprinkles that tasted like plastic.
The location itself was inviting and clean. The restrooms were also clean.
Awesome customer service though.
There are arcade games and a place to wash your take-home pint glasses they served your ice cream in.
Not only do they do amazing gluten-free/dairy-free desserts, but they have this cute little stage and hold events. See the pictures for details of upcoming events.
