On a beautiful day my friend and I decided to try a place we haven’t been so off to Crazy Crab we went. We were seated promptly albeit on a 4 ft wide dock edge. The place was vibrant with patrons , boats , and I heard a few dogs on docked boats. The views were pleasant , the day perfect. My buddy had been wanting Shrimp and Grits , I always try the Salmon, this time blackened. We both had salads which were fine I did the Ceasar . Our dinners arrived. The Grits was a generous portion, the Salmon not so much. I had the side of a veggie medley which was a bit overcooked n missed any flavoring, a bit disappointing. The Salmon had flavor, but was a bit undersized for the price I thought. I did really like the cucumber dill sauce for the Salmon. And yes, I tasted the Grits and found the dish to be pretty good.
All in all it was just okay to me. I think the vibe, plus being able to get there by boat to eat ,also the water views, make it popular with the locals. I’m certain other items on the menu should be tried to discover their best dishes.
I can see where drinks and appetizers would be a fun addition to an outing at Crazy Crab.
The staff was plentiful, so the service was always there.
For a nice waterfront dining experience give it a try!

We went directly in without a wait. I think we happened to be there at the right time. The service was great, the selection of beer and wine was large. The food was really good. I had the soft shell crab dinner which was cooked to perfection. The crabs were cooked crisp and were decent sized. The food is expensive, but so is everything in todays world.

I really wanted to like Crazy Crab because everyone was really nice. The owner, the hostess, the waitstaff were all really friendly. We were expecting a long wait for really amazing local seafood. We got the long wait. But the meal was disappointing. It took about 30-40min to get seated. No issue with that. It’s busy and it’s popular. We’re former restaurant workers on vacation so we are pretty patient. Once we got seated we ordered and it was over an hour before we got our food. It looks like they were having computer issues. It would have been good if someone came over to let us know there were issues. But parties who came in after us were paying their checks when we just got served. Again we were fine with waiting for great local seafood. It har wasn’t great. I ordered the sea scallops. I only get fried scallops when I know they are fresh and delicious. The scallop dinner was $35. I got about 6 small scallops. I guess fried meant pan fried and not breaded like I thought. They were mediocre at best. My husband gave me some of his fried scallops from his platter. Baked potato was ordinary and house side salad with some wilted lettuce was sad. I was really disappointed. My son got the fried oyster platters which was decent. Hubby got the fried captains platter and he said it was good but not worth the money. The prices are like a prime rib place but the food is absolutely not. If you are charging those prices you also shouldn’t be using plastic disposable ramekins. The atmosphere is a lot of loud locals and a few were really drunk. That’s not an issue if it’s a casual and moderate priced seafood joint with drinks and a view of the water. The prices just don’t match the atmosphere. We waited a long time after we got the food. The staff was super busy. We got 2 coconut cakes to go and when we got home we were disappointed to see that they definitely weren’t house made even though they were on the specials board.
We were just there for waaaay too long and spent waaaay too much money for a mediocre experience. We arrived at 6pm and it was nearing closing time when we left. No reason to complain because they were so busy and clearly having computer issues so we didn’t want to wait any longer. I really wanted to like the place but I’m afraid next time we visit we won’t be back.

The view is stunning! Reedsville, a small fishing town in Northern Neck, is alive with history. Beautiful old houses line the road to the water. And the restaurant at the end of your journey is well worth the trip! The Crazy Crab has great, fresh seafood and, did I mention the VIEW??
Crab Cakes were the bomb and the Butter Beans were even better! You can’t go wrong with anything you order and the owner will make sure of that! Worth the trip from anywhere!!!!

We ate here twice during our stay in Reedville. The food and service were amazing both times. Can’t beat the on-the-water location. Many of the other patrons appeared to be locals, which is always a good sign for a restaurant. I highly recommend!

What a delightful restaurant. Everyone was friendly and the food was amazing, from the onion rings and hush puppies to the main reason we went…the crab dip appetizer, …the crab cake with almost no filler, and one of the daily specials was mahi tacos with nice size pieces of tuna in each taco. They also had the choice of shrimp or oyster tacos.
My only complaint is that I was too full to go get ice cream down the street. My one suggestion would be to have a sampler platter of all three tacos as it was so hard to decide which one to choose. I think they were reasonably priced, and the wonderful view of the water as we ate made lunch even better. The owner had his own playlist on the speakers which was disappointing as I was hoping to learn a new Spotify channel. We will be back.

The food was amazingly fresh and seasoned perfectly! The hush puppies are giant deep-fried balls of goodness. The staff are friendly and cheerful. Made our vacation just a bit more fantastic.

Great place for food and drinks. Excellent staff and the owners went out of their way to accommodate us during our over night stay. Slip fee is very reasonable ($1.50/FT and 30 amp service for an additional $7. 50 amp is available too). The bathrooms are nothing fancy but they are available with showers. They do have gas (non-ethenol) and diesel available.
The town of Reedville is quaint with some beautiful older Victorian homes and a fisherman’s museum. There is another restaurant within walking distance. We will definitely visit here again.

Servers were nice but understaffed, leading to long wait times for food and drink. Didn’t seem to be their fault.
Snow crab legs were really excellent. I can highly recommend those! However, the Captain’s Platter was very disappointing. For $36, it was much smaller than anticipated. It only came with 3 fried shrimp, 3 scallops, one crab cake that was somewhat on the bready side and dried out, and fish that was essentially flavorless.
The atmosphere is great though, being right on the water. And those crab legs were seriously yummy. Averaging it all together gives a 3 star experience.

Omg! Everything was amazing. Warm and friendly. You must make a trip to Reedville to come to the Crazy Crab. Our server Elle was simply delightful and knew the menu inside out. Every bite was simply sinful. We will definitely be back soon!!
