Our first time coming in and truly enjoyed every aspect of the night. We came in for my husband’s birthday, I had heard good things and wanted to give it a try. We loved the ambiance, it was low lit, quiet, with a great selection of music that brought us the back a sense a nostalgia. We enjoyed a couple of very unique and tasty cocktails before our meal. Our server was incredible, remembering and catering our experience to a food allergy we had called in ahead of time. The food was delectable and had flavor that left an impression. After our meal we were delivered the most delicious cookie and ice cream ever, every moment of the night was pleasant and refreshing. I highly recommend coming to this crafty little gem!

I’ve been coming here for a couple years now and this place is great! Cocktails and food are both amazing. The bartenders take special off-menu requests, and are even able to make things based on a flavor profile description. If you’re a foodie or craft cocktail person, this place won’t disappoint!

If you want amazing cocktails and a safe haven for gluten-free dining, The Craftsman in Tempe is an absolute must-visit, even if the dining room is shockingly on the quieter side.

Masterful Mixology: The bartender is a true artist; the house-distilled spirits are smooth and unique.

Dietary Inclusive: Clear labeling for Gluten-Free options makes ordering stress-free.

Ingredient Quality: The food tastes farm-to-table fresh, not frozen or processed.
Service: Staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly immediately upon entry.

I would absolutely recommend this to my foodie friends who appreciate craft spirits and healthy eating, though I’d warn them to bring a group if they want a more lively atmosphere. Or come enjoy the chill vibe if they’re looking for something more secluded.

Amazing local gem, we’ll definitely be back. Especially since it’s conveniently located so close to the major freeways and is a perfect stop on the way out to an event or show.

We moved here recently and have been trying to find “our bar”. We have tried a dozen and this place checks every box for us. The bartenders remember us. The food is out of this world, the rotating weekly special always piques our interest every Friday. The drinks are so fun and different. It’s small, but that’s part of the charm.

If you’re even remotely into cocktails, The Craftsman Kitchen & Cocktails is a must. This place quietly does everything right. The cocktail program is legit. Balanced, thoughtful, and clearly made by people who actually care about technique instead of gimmicks. It’s one of those spots where you can order off-menu, talk spirits, or just trust the bartender and get something excellent.
The food is just as strong. This isn’t a bar that happens to serve food. It’s a real scratch kitchen, and it shows. Everything we’ve tried has felt intentional and well-executed, not just “bar food.” It’s an easy date night win, but also great for a low-key dinner and drinks.
Bonus points for the location if you’re near South Tempe or Chandler, it feels like a hidden gem without the downtown chaos. Chill atmosphere, great staff, consistently solid. One of those places you keep coming back to because it never misses.

We walked in to an overwhelming unpleasant odor, but for some reason we decided to stay. There were only 2 FOH staff on a Saturday night, and service was completely uncoordinated. A server brought waters to our table, and managed to rub her sleeve all over my straw as she passed out waters to the rest of the table. 3 of us ordered smoky cocktails, and the bartender made each drink in is entirety before starting the next, resulting in the first 2 drinks sitting covered in smoke for way too long and being pretty gross by the time they got to the table. Chips were great, dips were bland. They didn’t bother telling us the volcano pork takes extra time to cook until it was on our table- more than 30 minutes after we ordered. I got the filet mignon and it was the worst I have EVER had- dry and unevenly cooked, with an odd texture, and it was definitely MUCH more rare than the medium steak I ordered. The mashed potatoes that came with it were like a weird goo that was too rich and not good. The Bear sandwich was bland and disappointing- you’d think something that was supposed to resemble Italian beef would have flavor, but no. And the servers didn’t bring our bill for 45 minutes after they cleared our table and we said we wouldn’t be ordering desert. And the ambiance does not match the prices they are charging. Very bare and sterile feeling, and the place smelled bad. Maybe they were having an off night, but i was excited to try this place and was utterly disappointed.

Have been here regularly for the past year and a half. I’ve always liked this place, and it’s even better now than it’s been in the past. The staff are great, and really care. None more so than the gm Allison, someone who exudes hospitality. I can’t speak to the cocktails per se, but it’s obvious they put a lot of effort into them. I’m more into beer, which they always have a nice selection of. The food is excellent. I’ve had several things from the recently refreshed menu. The short ribs, and duck entrees in particular were great. Also had a fish and chips Friday special that was just right. Glad this place is here.

We just left our 5:30 pm reservation. We can only speak to what we tried to eat. I’ve burned better meals.

Meatballs-your grandmas meatloaf from 1957 that has been deconstructed into mini balls sitting in warm drippings of either au jus or puddle water from the sidewalk. Served with tiles from the last shuttle launch

Arancini- freshly microwaved.

The Ribeye-a frozen meat patty flambé in butter served with hospital mashed potatoes

The Top Shelf burger- they had no burger. Meatballs yes. Burger patties no.

The Braised Beef Pomodoro- cold pasta with a sloppy jar sauce thrown on it with bits of leather shoe lace.

Summer Berry Duck- you will laugh when you see it. You will have a hard time discerning the duck from the fingerling potatoes. They are roughly the same size and color.

Chicken tenders and fries- if you’re a 4 year old, you will love this place

I would like to recommend drinks but we only received one. Our wait staff was none existent and anytime we tried to make contact, they ran to the back kitchen.

if you want a bar they have one; we think. A craft kitchen…no. Save your money and eat some place else.

The Craftsman Cocktails and Kitchen is a solid four-star spot that knows how to craft a great brunch experience. My recent visit was enjoyable, with a welcoming atmosphere and excellent service.

I ordered the Jerk Chicken Sandwich, and while I liked it, I was hoping for a bolder jerk seasoning flavor. The ingredients were fresh, and the sandwich was well-executed, but it didn’t quite deliver the depth of spice and heat I was looking for.

On the bright side, Allison provided fantastic service–attentive, friendly, and genuinely invested in making sure my meal was enjoyable.

While the Jerk Chicken Sandwich wasn’t exactly what I expected, I’d still recommend The Craftsman for its overall quality, inviting ambiance, and well-crafted dishes.
