lunch was 200$. They have king crab listed at market price. No one warmed us that the king crab was 175$ per pound. Market value is between 40$-80$ per pound. I feel hustled and definitely won’t be back there. You can see the food pictured. Def not $200 worth. We even sent the rice back . It wasn’t good. Crab was good. But not worth the money . Highway robbery

We had the fried and blackened shrimp, which were both delicious, and a gin and tonic to go with it. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, and a good spot to grab a meal while on the island. The folks next to us had the crab soup and raved how good it was. Will come back and try that next time.

(For those who plan, this place doesn’t take reservations. We got there right at 5:00 and sat right down. When we left close to 6:00 the place was packed and had a wait.)

Fabulous meal. We were in search of some local seafood and we found it at the CRAB TRAP on St Simons Island. We were staying on Jekyll but had exhausted all opportunities for seafood on Jekyll so decided to go off island for the night. My husband ordered the seafood platter and everything from the fried oysters to the fried fish and shrimp were excellent. The dish was served with fries and Cole slaw. I ordered the fried shrimp and it was perfection. You can tell that the restaurant caters to locals, so with that said, you know the food is perfectly cooked. we highly recommend this restaurant to all visitors to the Golden Isles!

The soup and scallops were good. The fries and chicken my grands had were cold. They weren’t busy, so I was quite disappointed. Our server had 2 tables, but we had empty glasses during the meal.
The Crab Trap has always been a favorite, but I don’t see myself returning. Cost of eating out is too much to get marginal.

We have been coming here for years and always look forward to sitting at the bar and having a great meal and service. Unfortunately, the bartender was more interested in passing his friends white claws as they sat at the bar (they obviously were not 21) than serving us a drink. Once we finally got waited on, the drinks were horrible and the food was terrible. We even overheard one of the other bartenders talk about “how stoned” he was! Anyway, what used to be a go to on our list will sadly become a stay away. It’s a shame.

We arrived about 6 pm on a Sunday evening, two of us. We were seated immediately in the front dining room and our server greeted us promptly for our drink order. She returned first with our requested water and then with our draft craft beers which were reasonably priced at $5 each. We ordered half dz raw oysters and cup of crab soup first. Oysters were small but tasty and soup was delicious, full of crab meat. We ordered entrees after our appetizers, fried soft shell crabs and the combo plate with blackened scallops and 1 crab cake. Sides were included with the dinners, cole slaw for both, fries on combo, bake potato with crab. We both enjoyed our food. My favorite were the scallops. Nice sear and tender meat. Service was very good. We would go back. Prices were reasonable and servings generous.

We celebrated our seventh anniversary here on November 12th and had a wonderful evening. Several friends recommended this restaurant to us and it was great! We started with the shrimp dip appetizer. I ordered the shrimp and grits. My wife ordered the Shrimp Creole. Both were flavorful and served piping hot! The Creole dish had just the right amount of spice from its Andouille sausage. The grits were cheesy and mixed with grilled tomatoes and blackened shrimp for a filling dish. We tried a sample of the crab soup and will definitely order it next visit. We ended a perfect evening by sharing a piece of their homemade key lime pie. Finally, kudos to our great server and the manager for making us feel welcome.

I’ve been coming here for roughly 20 years and my experience this evening lived up to my expectations. I feel I received a good amount of food for the price, and the wait staff were on point. My wife and I both got the Georgia Shrimp (fried) with grits and fries (requested grits in place of the coleslaw). Per the image our plates came out with grits instead of fries but when we brought this up it was corrected quickly and without any issue. The battering they use on the shrimp and fries is what I really love about the place. From my experience, if you’ve got complaints with The Crab Trap you are either going to have issues with every place you go, or you happened to go on a very busy night at peak time. Yes they are busy, but that tells you that their service and food is at a quality which is reasonable for what is paid.

Once we finished our crab soup it was all down hill for the rest of the meal…
Our entrees were flavorless and what little shrimp either of them contained the shrimp were overcooked and tough
The waitress never asked how our meals were even though most of the poorly prepared entrees were still on the plate
What the restaurant lacked in atmosphere they made up by way overcharging on the drinks; $15.50 for a single Woodford Reserve on the rocks, $10.00 for a light pour on the non-house Sav Blanc
If you’ve never tried the Crab Trap you are not missing anything; stay away, stay very far away!!
