Cow Restaurant & Grill – Oroville, California ️
What can I say about comfort food? This place delivers it every single time
Everything is fresh, served with a heaping (and I mean HEAPING ) smile, and surrounded by friendly faces that make you feel right at home ✨
My absolute go-to is the chicken-fried steak — it’s over-and-beyond good. And those home fries ? To die for. Honestly, they should rename them “The Heifer” instead of “The Cow” (just my humble request!).
I truly believe everyone should eat comfort food at least once a week
It keeps your mood happy , your smile big , and your belly full and warm
Huge shout-out to Amber — she waits on me every time, knows my favorite table, recognizes my car when I pull in , and greets me with a smile ready to serve whatever I’m craving that day. That kind of service is rare and special.
Don’t miss: Their soups
Chicken-fried steak (worth repeating!)
Biscuits & gravy
Seafood fish platter
Bottom line: Just go try it for yourself.
You’ll leave happy, full, and already planning your next visit ✨

I grew up in Oroville and came by to visit, and was sad to see that the Cornucopia was closed down. Luckily their sister location (formerly Gold City Grill) was still up and running and had the pies just as I remembered them. Some of the flavors are by pre-order only (like the chocolate peanut butter cream pie) but the classic ones are all still available and so tasty! The coffee is delicious and the servers are all super friendly.

This place is interesting and so are the people who work there. I don’t think they have been working there for long because it was oddly different communication. I had a very tasty breaded catfish dinner with corn bread, a salad and bread pudding for dessert. My friend had a french dip, the bread was very cold which made the meat cold. Next time we will order a toasted bun and asked for more meat too, it was a very very thin sandwich for the price we had to pay

Visited August 11th..see my receipt.

I have only been here once in the last few years while in Oroville. I thought I would give it a try before heading out to Grass Valley.

I am so glad we stopped in for breakfast! They are always busy for a reason…good portions and friendly service!

I got scrambled eggs with extra crispy bacon and potatoes with marbled rye toast. Everything was great…not alot of butter ( don’t need it!) on the toast and bacon cooked the way I asked!

My friend got the scrambled egg with hash browns and biscuits and gravy. He asked for hash browns to be crispy and they were.

HUGE Portions with leftovers! Very reasonable prices! They also have some delicious pies (whole or sliced). They also serve dinner. No alcohol on menu.

They have indoor and outside seating. Country feel. Thank you Carrie for excellent service! I will be back again much sooner next time!

Our go-to breakfast place in Oroville! The food is good- just what you want for breakfast. I’ve had good lunches there too. Never been there for dinner.
The service is always excellent! And they are always soooo friendly. The atmosphere is a nice, cozy down home feel, with a good blend of background music.
There are other restaurants to eat breakfast at in town, but we have found The Cow has the very best prices, so we go there.
Oftentimes its crowded ( for good reason) and we have to wait a short while. Today we were seated immediately.
Go and enjoy!

Another Gem with Heartwarming Comfort Food

I recently enjoyed a lunch special ~ Grilled Parmasen Cheeseburger, fries & Ice Tea. I can confidently say it’s one of the best country cafes I’ve visited recently. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with warm hospitality and a cozy, down-home atmosphere that made me feel right at home.

The menu is a perfect blend of classic comfort food and homemade specialties. This Parmasen Cheeseburger was absolutely delicious— a grilled cheese sandwich.

Beyond the food, the service was outstanding. The staff was friendly, attentive, and always had a smile, making sure my experience was top-notch. Whether you’re stopping by for a hearty breakfast, a satisfying lunch, or just a slice of homemade pie with coffee, this place is a must-visit.

Highly recommended!

Our family LOVES this place. We call it The Cow. There has been a cow atop this restaurant as long as I can remember. It actually…. might be a steer. Cattle words? Not an expert here. We have had good service here consistently: when busy (which is mostly) when not, when it picks up after we get there, etc. Coffee is good and hot and usually full. They keep it coming! Has real tasting half and half little creamers. I haven’t tried the other creamers. Staff efficient and friendly and the food tastes good! We love going here. The price is comparable to other restaurants in the area. My kids usually get something from the kid menu and I really like all the omelets I’ve tried. They are pretty big by the way.

WOW! THIS PLACE IS THE BEST CAFE IN CALIFORNIA!
Do yourself a favor and stop by with your family.
First, they are super kid-friendly. The high chairs are clean. The staff is EXTREMELY FRIENDLY. I heard the table next to us have a bit of a hiccup, and they were super polite but hungry. Unfortunately, we got our food before them, and they had been seated before our table.
They went above and beyond, even comping their breakfast! I love the business attitude because those locals keep coming back! Prices are regular, but the QUALITY is supreme.

This was my first time and definitely not my last! Great experience at The Cow, my dad accidentally spilled his drink and the staff came right over to clean it up. They have fantastic staff and their service is excellent! I had their french toast, it was moist and oh so yummy! I really liked that they give you a lot of butter to go with the french toast. My dad had their ribeye steak and he said that’s the best steak I’ve ever had. I didn’t have any steak since I don’t usually eat steak although he loved it! I forgot the name of our server but he was a black guy and he was so funny. We all loved that guy! Will come back again when we visit California.

The Cow-First time coming under this new ownership and it was excellent! Ordered the Reuben and garlic fries, they were super crispy and yummy. My husband ordered breakfast and the sausage was huge, packed with flavor, and butter soft. The service was excellent, food came out fast, she brought the bill with the food so we didn’t have to wait after, extra napkins, salt/pepper/condiments everything came out very quick. We were impressed. Definitely be back!
