Customer service and hospitality is excellent. We walked in and were told a 10-15 minute wait for two bar seats. We sat out near the fire while we waited and the hostess came and got our drink order so by the time our seats were ready our cocktails were being handed to us. The menu is interesting and almost has an Asian flare in the appetizers, followed by several pasta dishes and then entrees that were more classic including chicken thigh, trout, and some waygu options (there is a vegetarian option too). We ordered the cauliflower, pork belly, lemony pasta and wagyu Bavette. Cauliflower is a big portion – flavors are great but we felt the cauliflower was a little over cooked. The pork belly felt like a take on Thai papaya salad – it’s cooked perfectly and served in fish sauce with mint. This was probably my favorite thing we ordered. The pasta I would say you could pass on – while it was cooked to perfection, we just feel there are better places in town to get pasta. The wagyu was delicious and would order it again. This place is definitely worth coming to but be prepared for a pricey tab and nyc priced cocktails (martini was $20 Negroni was $20 but to be honest – they were delicious and worth it)

Last week I had probably the worst experience at any restaurant I’ve ever had.

Well crafted modern cuisine. Very nice relaxing ambiance. Very good selection of draft beer and wine. I really like that they offer different serving sizes so you can try different beer and wine.Service is average and the price is on the higher side. Overall a very good experience. Recommended.

My wife and I had previously enjoyed our dining experience at The Covey in years past, but we were recently treated very poorly by the manager earlier this June. I had made a reservation weeks in advance of our trip to Ketchum only to find out on the evening of our reservation that the entire restaurant had been booked for a private group the evening prior to our reservation. I was then lied to by the manager who claimed she had “tried calling several times but wasn’t able to get through”. This explanation didn’t add up for several reasons including no call from the restaurant showed up in my cell phone call log (apparently their manager doesn’t know how smart phones work) nor did they attempt to leave a message. When I presented my phone to the manager showing her my call log, she doubled down on her lie and claimed to have called me “weeks prior” to try to reschedule; however she had stated not 5 minutes earlier that the group who privately reserved the restaurant had only done do the night before our reservation was to be honored (apparently she can also foresee the future?) Not only did the manager lie to my wife and I, but she must have obviously thought we were stupid given the poor lie she was trying to sell us on. Unfortunately the manager could have made it right by admitting the error in their reservation system and presenting us with some voucher for a future visit. Instead she rudely rushed us out the door and never even apologized for their mistake.

So disappointed with The Covey – we have been going there for years – service and attitude was so disappointing that we decided to not stay to have dinner.

Wow! The food here is so good. The chicken is tender and juicy, spiced with harissa. Yum! The rigatoni is done to perfection. We had fabulous service. Very enjoyable!

I was initially apprehensive about bringing three kids under five to The Covey but our families were met with open arms. Not only did they provide high chairs and coloring materials but the owner took our daughter and let her sit at the kitchen bar to “help” him expo. It was such a sweet experience and one our daughter won’t forget. In addition to the kindness showed to our children the food was divine. The steak tartare was the best I’ve ever had, the handmade bucatini incredibly flavorful, and the cheesecake is actually indescribable. Nothing but great things to say about this place, the food, staff, and the owner. I can’t wait to go back!

The Covey is the only place in Ketchum I’ve been to that attempts a seasonal, creative, New American menu and I deeply appreciate them. The service is fantastic, the backyard patio is lovely in summer, the dining room is airy and modern. By Portland standards, the food is not a huge standout, but when you’ve tried the breadth of what the valley has to offer you come to appreciate a place that is putting in the effort to do modern, delicious, ever-changing cuisine and not just the same duck breast they’ve served for 30 years (IYKYK). We’ve made time to go on a date at the Covey on almost every trip (2 times a year) for a few years now, and while not every dish hits it out of the park, they keep working and getting better and more creative with mostly seasonal ingredients.
