We visited The Cove at the Hilton Hotel on Canandaigua Lake for lunch last Saturday around 1:00 PM. The restaurant was very quiet, allowing us to choose a table beside the window, as the patio was full. The view of the lake was beautiful and set a nice ambiance for our meal.

Unfortunately, the food was mediocre. My husband had the salmon bowl, which was overly salty. I ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy with two eggs, but the biscuits were stodgy, and eggs arrived unseasoned. I wasn’t offered salt and pepper, which could have improved the eggs.

After lunch, we enjoyed a pleasant walk beside the very busy lake, which was a highlight of our visit. While the setting and views were wonderful, the meal left much to be desired. Hopefully, the food quality will improve, as the location has great potential.

The Cove was the perfect dinner & atmosphere for a date night with my wife. The lakefront view is incredible. I had the Ribeye & she had the Chicken Gorgonzola. The flavor was fantastic. The martinis were mixed perfectly too! The only thing that made this beyond a 5 star experience was our server Lisa. She was outgoing & knowledgeable. Thank you for a great dinner Lisa!

My husband and I had our Valentines Day dinner at The Cove and Bar at the Hotel Canandaigua. Our first course could have been better. I got a Brussel Salad the the Entrees they were good I got Duck and it had carrots and creamy polenta and James had a Filet with potatoes and Brocolini I tried it and I was good. Our dessert was Creme Brulee with fruit and shortbread cookie crumbs. It was something different to try and I think it was good.

We had a wonderful experience. Soup of the day was an Italian roasted tomato with lovely herbs and tons of flavor. We enjoyed the lobster crab dip with nice chunks of meat and rich sauce. Next was the hanger steak special marinated with peaches and pink peppercorns and broccoli Rabe. Our servicer LISA was bright, kind, generous and so helpful.

I want to start with: Our waitress was incredibly lovely and our experience was awful for reasons that *don’t* involve her.

It’s been more than a week since we ate at The Cove and I’m still annoyed. We traveled to Canandaigua for a concert on a Sunday night and found that our dinner options were limited. My friend is vegan and I was excited when I looked online and saw a really delicious sounding tofu dish listed on the menu for this restaurant.

Immediately upon sitting down, we noticed that the menu posted online is *not* the menu they gave us. I asked about the posted tofu dish and our waitress immediately confessed (as if this were a regular occurrence) that the menu online was not accurate and they are “not vegan friendly”. My friend was only able to order a salad as an entrée so we also got two appetizers that could be altered to be vegan. The pretzel bites are definitely frozen; they were terrible (very dried out and tough). The French fries were supposed to be seasoned and the only alteration we asked for was to not put the cheese on top. They arrived completely plain.

Our entrées did not arrive until an hour and 20 minutes after we’d been seated. My friend and I both ordered salads and mine had a $10 added piece of salmon. I’m calling out the price because this was the saddest excuse for a salmon filet I’ve ever been served. I’m including the picture I took because I can’t believe how much I paid for a piece of fish the size of my index finger that had been strategically folded to make it look thicker.

We will never go back. I consider this a $75 lesson in where not to eat in Canandaigua.

we were there as a part of a large group. took over 30 minutes to get drinks, another 30 after that to get apps and over and hour after that to get our entrees. we ended up having it packaged to go because it was getting so late. both my fiancé and my own ribyes were cooked completely rare although that is not how we asked them to be cooked and they were thrown into a box with a handful of fries. the steaks barely tasted like they were seasoned and the fries had too much salt in them. for what we paid, i expected a lot better. won’t be returning

Floors are dirty, chairs are chipped, bugs line the windows. Went here for brunch and it was practically empty. Waited over 40 minutes for an omelette and burrito. The menu does not match what is being served. Everything was gross and over priced. Waitress barely acknowledged us and seemed disassociated. You don’t even get ice with your water. Seriously disappointed that this restaurant has the best views at kershaw park and can’t get it together. Better as a bird cage than a restaurant.

THE WORST dining experience I have ever had in my life, hands down! The view is beautiful as is the building. That is where the positives ended, unfortunately. As I am writing this,
It is about 1AM and I am suffering the ill effects of one of their meals (aka food poisoning).
Our server seemed pleasant, but after she took our food order, she promptly disappeared. We watched for about an hour as tables around us, all who had a different server, came, ordered drinks and food, ate and left. The only thing we received was NA drinks and two of us had salads, which were delivered after an oddly long wait. Finally one of our party (there were 4 of us) got up to find someone to ask where our order was. Our original server finally came back over after our prompting, and said she thought the food was almost ready. A little while later, she brought the dinners. They were completely cold. Two of us had scallops and the scallops tasted old and freezer burnt, and were floating in some horrible brown sauce with what looked like refried beans, but was allegedly a risotto. It was terrible. No one came back to check on us. Proper silverware was missing. One of us returned inside once again to ask for the manager. She was hanging out with bar customers inside. After another wait, she eventually approached our table. She then told us our server had gone home due to a family emergency. While I empathize if this was case, no one took over for her or checked on us. We asked for our split bill. After another long wait, manager returned with ONE bill, said she had taken off a percentage (bill was still over $200 and we had no alcohol) and she said that we are lost of the food. We were hungry. We had to argue the bill.
Now I am on our bathroom floor sicker than I’ve been in years vomitting up nasty scallops and blood and experiencing the worst case of diarrhea I can not state the need to avoid this place enough-absolutely horrible!!!!

Thanksgiving dinner well prepared traditional and I would go there again for Thanksgiving. There were options other than turkey.
Didn’t get a real feel for typical fare but will go again. Amazing views and would be wonderful in summer.
Service was excellent.
Reasonably priced.
