I had my baby in the stroller and noticed there was one man behind the bar and a girl sitting at the computer counting receipts. There didn’t seem to be any other employees and the pool was packed with guests. I sat on one of the couches and called my husband to relay the menu and when we decided what we wanted, I went to the bar to order.
I stood there waiting for this man and her friend who JUST walked up to order. She looked like she had been there a minute, but her friend had not. They couldn’t seem to decide what they wanted, and the guy wanted certain bread for his sandwich and after it was rung up told the bartender he wanted it toasted. The bartender was chatting them up, and never acknowledged me. Not once did anyone say, “I’m sorry, I’ll be right with you”, “Have you been helped”, nothing. All of his attention was on those two.
I sit down at the bar as he starts to make a bunch drinks bc I don’t have the stamina to continually stand there waiting to be addressed. He still doesn’t look at me or say anything. An older man comes and starts talking to the bartender asking what’s on tap. The bartender never said, “I’ll be right with you in a moment sir, she was here first.” The bartender acts at if he’s going to start taking this man’s order. I pipe up and say, “You know I would like to place an order too if somebody wants to pay attention to me.” The old man ordering just stares at me, but again, no apology or acknowledgement from the bartender or from the girl sitting there at the computer counting receipts. The bartender said nothing and still attend to the other man.
I got up and left bc at at point my daughter had to go to the bathroom and I couldn’t wait to be acknowledged anymore.
My husband and I have stayed at the resort before and had no issues with The Cove, but this recent experience left a bad taste in my mouth, and I didn’t even get an opportunity to order.
Food was decent, picked up the food immediately after the buzzer went off.
Nacho toppings were cold & it felt like there weren’t enough toppings for the amount of chips.
The burger was okay, the toppings were nice and you get a good value for the amount of food. Fries were good.
We didn’t try any of their alcoholic drinks, but it doesn’t feel like they are all that interested in the virgin drinks. The lemon slush was just lemon juice, not a sweeter lemonade and the piña colada was fine.
Overall it’s definitely nothing to write home about, but if you want to get food while staying at the pool, it’s a fairly good option.
