We started out with the Rockefeller Oysters and the crab cakes. The oysters were fantastic and the crab cakes were tasty too with the sweet corn emulsion. I had the old fashioned cocktail from the cocktail menu and my husband had a coke.
I chose a Flounder special with a piccata sauce. It was very good, but seemed pricey at $61, however this may have included the up-charge for changing out mashed potatoes for lobster Mac and cheese, which was tasty. There was a lot of lobster on top with a crunchy topping.
My husband wanted a ribeye steak, but didn’t want to pay $90 for a Tomahawk. Only a filet cut steak is available on the regular menu. He tried the filet sliders (2) which are listed as an appetizer. The sliders had good toppings but the meat is thin and it was overcooked. (Certainly no comparison to Harry and Izzy’s filet sliders). He ordered fries as a side and they were excellent.
We shared the chocolate covered raspberry mousse which was so good!
Our meal was about $190 before tip. We thought that was a lot since my husband did not have an entree, but an appetizer for his dinner. One cocktail and no wine with dinner.
Lamb lollipops, steak tacos, burger, grilled Caesar salad, everything was delicious. Last time we had the pork chop and one of the chef’s specials (a steak of some sort).
If I had to point out a couple of areas for improvement: the music sometimes feels a little downbeat for the otherwise lively atmosphere, and I’d love to see a few more cocktail options included in the happy hour menu.
Overall, Courthouse Club is one of the best spots around and a place I’ll happily keep coming back to.
I started with the grilled Caesar. The lettuce was perfectly cooked—crisp with just the right kiss of char. The brioche croutons and parmesan crisp added an elevated touch to the salad. The gumbo was flavorful, but as someone who’s had a lot of gumbo over the years, I missed that deep, dark brown color that a well-made roux should have. The Courthouse gumbo didn’t quite deliver on that front.
My husband ordered the pork with sweet potatoes and green beans. The first thing we noticed was the pool of mustard cream sauce at the base of the dish, with the vegetables layered above it and the pork chop resting on top. While the pork chop itself was cooked beautifully and paired well with the green beans, it had the opposite effect on the sweet potatoes. They became oily from the pork and were overwhelmed by the mustard sauce. The competing flavors just didn’t work together.
I went with the sea bass, which had wonderfully crispy edges and was cooked to perfection. It was topped with what I believe was a minimal orange slaw—light and refreshing but pooled in the orange blossom sauce. It was very good, but at $51? I can’t say it felt worth that price. I also tried the loaded mashed potatoes (without bacon or sour cream). There was an odd flavor I couldn’t quite place—not bad, but not particularly enjoyable either.
But then came the coconut cake—wow, just wow! Layers of moist goodness, blanketed with toasted coconut, and paired with just enough chocolate nestled next to the slice. A sweet, memorable finish to the meal.
Left a lot to be improved upon but unfortunately came short in the two main categories and we probably won’t give this place a second chance. It looks really swanky but they aren’t up to that caliber at all.
And the food? Absolutely outstanding. They have a happy hour from 4 to 6 PM with half-priced appetizers, and we’re not talking about basic fare. We kicked things off with a lobster sushi roll and filet sliders—both phenomenal. Next up were a couple of flatbreads, with the black and blue flatbread stealing the show.
I could keep raving, but this is one spot you need to experience for yourself. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
The Courthouse Club is a must-visit! We turned appetizers into a full meal, enjoying the Whipped Goat Cheese Dip, Steak Tacos, Egg Rolls, Crab Cake Minis, and the Chef’s Special Sushi Roll. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the variety was impressive. We paired it all with a lovely bottle of wine and a couple of creative cocktails from their specials menu—perfect complements to the meal. The atmosphere is stunning, blending modern elegance with the charm of an old building. Highly recommend for a memorable dining experience!
