My Opinion — Honest and Balanced Review

I always like to preface my reviews by saying that my opinions are just that — opinions. I compare apples to apples and use average as the baseline (3 stars). Anything above average earns higher, and true excellence gets full marks. I consider myself very conservative and don’t give every review an extreme rating (too many Google Reviews with 1 star – because someone was hyper critical, and 5 stars because because they feel obligated for something that stood out – most likely also exaggerated). I try to give my reviews with context and temperament.

On this visit to Corner Crust Pizza in Cornelius, NC, the service absolutely stood out. The employees clearly take pride in their shop and their product. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful — Johnny on the spot with getting our order together. Special shoutout to Chloe at the register, who made sure we had every condiment we needed and did it all with a smile. Service like that turns an ordinary stop into a gold-star experience.

For the food, the garlic “knots” (really more like garlic rolls — they’re huge) were outstanding. Perfectly baked, lathered in garlic sauce, topped with Parmesan and a sprinkle of oregano, and served with their house marinara (I honestly could’ve used a bit more of that sauce — it’s that good). The pizza itself held up exactly how a solid, traditional pizza should. We tried the Brooklyn-style with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, peppers, and plenty of onions. Some might find the onion load a bit much, but since we love them, it was just right.

The atmosphere lands right in the middle for me — clean, bright, new, and organized, but not particularly cozy or unique. Think solid, functional, and ready for takeout business — which fits their model well.

Overall: Food – 4 stars, Service – 5 stars, Atmosphere – 3 stars. The service especially made this visit shine, and I’ll definitely be back for another pizza night soon! We got to try that monster 28″ pizza next – “if” it’ll fit in the car! We’ll follow-up with our next visit.

A friend recommended this place, and I’m glad he did! The perfect slice of pizza! I ordered basic cheese. The crust was thin and fairly crisp, just the way I like it. The cheese and sauce were high quality and tasty, not greasy or heavy. The pizza was among the best I’ve ever eaten. The Greek salad was also delicious. This delightful spot doesn’t skimp on quality ingredients. The young woman who served us was professional and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Took a trip out to find this pizza place.
Heard they had the Biggest Slices of Pizza around!
Not going to Lie,
I shamefully could only eat one slice!
Ordered 2 Slices,
One, Chicken Bacon Ranch.
The other a Margarita.
Slices vary in price due to toppings.
Honestly,
Freshest Ingredients I have ever had on a pizza!
I got was a Cesar salad.
Didn’t think it was worth the price,
best part was the fresh parmesan cheese.
Garlic knots were delicious
& the marinara sauce was .
To finish off the meal, had to get a
dessert.
They had a seasonal baklava.
I liked it, but I felt it needed more of a honey drizzle as it was a little dry & fell apart as I tried to eat it.
Sat outside as it was a Beautiful day & the inside was packed when we arrived.
They have a free rewards program.
With proper ID,
I received a 15% Military Discount.
However, they do charge a
3% credit card fee.
Just an FYI.
I would % recommend and the next time I am in the area, I will be trying more of their speciality slices!

This restaurant had potential, but unfortunately there are far too many better pizza places in Lake Norman for me to foresee going back. For positives, the staff was incredibly friendly/helpful and the vibe was nice. Menu had a good selection of options. The pizza concept seemed great – they feature huge single slices which is great when you have people with different pizza preferences. Unfortunately what we received was essentially triangle shaped flatbread that was reheated with toppings. Maybe it would be better if we had ordered a full size pizza rather than the slices? Overall just wasn’t what we expected and didn’t wow us in any way.

Three of us dined here on Friday 2/20. Pizza was excellent. Our tab was $52.54, including a 20% tip, but we had a $10 coupon that was presented before placing our order. When I looked at our receipt I noted we did not get the $10 credit. I brought this to the attention of the cashier and she said she fixed it. Four days later, we still don’t have a credit on our card. We messaged the restaurant two days later and no reply. We won’t be back, but if you go, don’t expect to use a coupon.

Edit: Corner Crust reached out to me after talking to their POS provider who said it was a glitch in their system and promised it will be fixed. It speaks volumes that a new business works hard to satisfy customers and I have adjusted my review to reflect their hard work.

This place has potential. The slices of pizza are HUGE and filling. You really do not need more than 1 piece. The cheese, sauce and toppings are all great. The speed to make everything and the customer service is amazing. The downfall is the dough, there is something off. It’s too chewy and almost fried like and not great. Also had the garlic knots which are more like dinner rolls, good flavor but the dough gives a not so good texture

Food
Meats Pizza – 3/5
Margherita Pizza – 3/5

Service 3/5

We had a party of 5 (2 pizzas, 5 waters $68) and all had the same consensus, food was meh. For the price, it made it even worse.

We all felt the sauce was bland.
We all felt the dough tasted like “Pillsbury pizza dough from a can”.
The toppings were good, the cheese was good. Wife enjoyed they used really fresh basil.

The service was suboptimal. I think it’s because of how I tip. Could just be this new generation of worker. All I got was my food to the table (nothing more). Maybe it’s because the waitress mom was sitting behind me and I was giving this review out loud.

A personal feeling of mine is I dislike tipping before food and services provided, which almost all new restaurants force you to do these days. So I try my best not to tip at all on the kiosk and just tip cash after I’ve finished. Or I would tip the minimal (what I would give even if everything was bad) and just leave more cash after I’ve received food and service.

Anyways, for a waiter to bring me 2 pizzas I thought my minimal was $5, especially since we had to get our own drinks after putting in the order.

Wait staff was friendly, just didn’t do too much. She brought out the pizza and while still at our table, I commented that we didn’t have any plates, napkins or forks. Since she didn’t say anything back (I was expecting a “I’ll get that for you”), I sent my son to get it. I honestly do not know if we are supposed to get it ourselves.

Paid $5 for someone to bring me 2 pizzas.
I did not leave extra tip.

Second time here and again had a great experience. We ate in both times at “off hours” so not a lot of people or atmosphere. Order time to food ready time was fast. Yes, the slices are huge, but they show all pizza sizes and the slice size clearly on the wall. We were there during a promo for free garlic knots and they did not disappoint. The owners was there and he engaged us in nice conversation. Good selection of local beers on tap were a plus. I do agree with another reviewer, that they should have a “free water” station just like every brewery does. It is a bad business decision to force you to purchase a “bottled water”. I look forward to ordering one of their giant 24 inch pizzas when we have enough people. Also, the menu is very extensive but have only had pizze and garlic knots. I look forward to trying other items. I do recommend Corner Crust.

I have worked with Italian food in a culinary and professional capacity essentially my entire life, and I’ve eaten pizza at all of the best locations around the greater Charlotte area. What these guys at the corner Crust do with the crust on their Pizza is just amazing. I have made thousands of batches of dough and never been able to make something like this. This pizza is legit and you should definitely try it, you will not be disappointed

We were so excited to have a new pizza place in town. However it was a total disappointment!
The staff was super friendly and attentive.

First off, we ordered the cup and char and as you can clearly see our pie in comparison was no where near what we expected or got..to have the word crust in your name we expected a far better crust then what we got, it lacked crisp, chew and flavor! And honestly tasted stale.. very disappointing..I know Saporito sauce and it did not taste like that at all..this tasted like a $10 pizza, we would have been better off going to Costco which by far has better flavor.. $27 for a 16” pizza is highway robbery!
