The Cork Room – Paducah
Reviews
Went with a friend when there were only 2 other couples seated. Drinks took a surprisingly long time to get given there were 4 staff behind the bar.
The bruschetta was delicious. A bit skimpy on the figs, but great otherwise. The gnocchi were probably the least enjoyable dish because they were very soggy and mushy. Shrimp and grits was outstanding, and the marrow was worth the wait.
I’d come back for sure.
Downtown Paducah
I’ve dined at The Cork Room twice for brunch now…delicious both times! Today we chose the following…
Scotch Egg… arugula, tomato jam, toast $10 (the largest Scotch Egg I’ve ever seen)
Chicken and French Toast… sriracha maple syrup, garnished with strawberry and blackberries $13
Crab Cake, small plate… basil aioli, heirloom tomatoes $10
Half Caesar Salad… romaine, croutons, parmesan $10
Coke and Soda Water w/Lime
Not only is the food amazing and reasonably priced, but the relaxing atmosphere and super friendly staff are amazing as well. Self-service wine dispensers?!? I’m going back for dinner to try those out. I just love eating local. ♥️
Even with two parties already there, the staff never made us feel like we were a burden or that they couldn’t handle us in the cozy space. They asked if we were okay sitting at the bar (we were), and they were upfront that there might be a wait since everything is made from scratch. Honestly, that kind of communication and care made us feel really appreciated right off the bat.
We got mimosas, which were spot on, and I ordered the biscuits and gravy, which were absolute perfection. The biscuits were thick, fluffy, buttery, and flaky, with just the right bit of doughiness. The gravy was rich and peppery, with solid chunks of sausage. My wife had the chicken and waffles, and the chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy inside, paired with waffles that were golden and just right.
Even with the big parties and fresh-made food, service was quick and the bartender was super attentive. We felt taken care of the whole time. We’re already looking forward to coming back and seeing what’s next on the menu. be a wait since everything is made from scratch. Menu is quite limited & portions definitely tapas style. Everything had a fantastic taste.
$135 dinner after comping the burger that my son never got to eat while waiting over an hour for it.
Will not return without the absolute star treatment promise from ownership at their expense. My expense was a sort of wrecked Saturday night, wasted time, and substandard food and service. Was NOT busy at all. There was no excuse. We were the first people there. I’m appalled and completely DISAPPOINTED.
Maybe go somewhere else if you want consistency care or I don’t know, food?
Service by Mary Anne was excellent!
A revisit next time we are back to Paducah.
