Hands down the best fish and chips I’ve had in the states. Generous portions with perfectly crisp batter and fish that was soft, flaky, and cooked just right. We tried both the cod and the haddock and they were both excellent. Fernando, our server, was funny and genuinely kind, and the atmosphere made the whole experience even better. A gem in Plymouth!

We stopped by The Codfather on their third night after opening, not sure what to expect. We were very impressed. We ordered calamari as an appetizer. To us it is the benchmark of the quality of seafood. If cooked improperly it is like chewing on rubber. But Codfathers calamari was hands down the best we have ever had. The breading was light and was perfectly seasoned. It had a delicate texture. The dipping sauce was the perfect finishing touch. I ordered the haddock fish and chips, and my husband ordered the cod fish and chips. Both were delicious and cooked perfectly. Fernando was our attentive and friendly server. Dimitri is the talented chef. The decor is upscale and comfortable. Nice selection of beers. If you are a fan of Yamas in Plymouth, it’s owned by the same people . We are definitely going back!

This was my first time visiting The Codfather, but I knew it would be good because Kosta always does a good job with his restaurants. It was only their second day open, and they had everything running smoothly. Fernando introduced himself to me when I walked in. He is the manager and was very personable. I sat at the bar and met Nic, who also introduced himself and was friendly to talk to. My prime rib sandwich and fries came out quickly and tasted great. The manager came here from Alaska, where he was the chef at a remote lodge. I look forward to coming back soon.

The clam chowder was soup and very few stones very milky not creamy. My rice was cold. And French fries are not hand cut. Also hor buns on sandwich was very hard.

Food was fresh and excellent, and I’m fussy. Service was fantastic. Dining room and bathroom spotless. Paid less for lunch with desert than we usually do at the Common Man Roadside Cafe just down the road. Don’t skip this place.

We visited The Codfather on Christmas Eve and were honestly such a pleasant surprise. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Everything we ordered hit the spot.
On top of that, Fernando the manager was amazing. Super friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. You can tell he really cares about the experience.

I’m a local, this place is incredible. The fish and calamari tastes 100% better than more than half the places sitting on the oceans coast. The drinks made to perfection, and the service was top tier.
There actually wasn’t a time I set my empty drink down and didn’t have a refill immediately, same with the sauces and such.
The owner prides himself on ensuring you are taken care of, it’s awesome.
My wife and I will 100% be back, this place sets the tone for all the other restaurants around here. We loved it and you will too

Amazing food, the fried food we had was fried to perfection I had to take some home after my big meal. Drinks are wonderful. Great service and it’s beautiful inside! 10/10 recommend!
