I tried them out a couple of weeks ago. The dining room is much smaller than the other Coconut restaurants in the Sacramento area. There is no room between tables. It was a little uncomfortable!
We ordered a red curry with shrimp, which comes with white or brown rice. I got the brown. Both the curry and rice were excellent. However, the boat noodles we ordered were as good as the curry! The soup is too light, and the beef is almost inedible! The overcooked beef was too tough to bite!
The service was a bit slow. But they’re soft opening at the time. I think they should be improving soon!
The menu highlight for us was the curry puffs. Surprised something so small packed such a punch of flavor! The cheese wontons was pretty good, too. The mango curry was decent, especially considering I came for the mango curry. I just wished they had bigger chunks of mango in it. The pineapple fried rice was kind of meh. It was a little too dry, making the flavor not as expected. Definitely on the lower half of our pineapple fried rice comparison chart. The pad thai was also just meh, as there wasn’t a lot of the flavor one comes to expect with pad Thai. These two dishes in particular were a little bit of a let down. The mango sticky rice wasn’t bad though. Definitely was a nice way to end the meal.
The staff was definitely very accommodating and nice. Mainly only saw one person on the floor, but they were taking orders, cleaning up, and always making sure our water cups was full like a champ!
Location wise, the restaurant is definitely a lot smaller than most smaller restaurants. There was only about maybe 5-8 tables or so, but it was pretty compact. I can definitely see why most people rather just order takeout.
Overall, definitely wouldn’t mind ordering takeout for the curry puffs and mango curry, especially when I don’t feel like driving too far.
