It was… okay.

We went for dinner tonight (Friday night) and were seated immediately. Service was fast and attentive throughout the meal. For drinks, both my friend and I ordered the Lavender Coal Chute, which was quite good. It consisted of gin, lavender simple syrup, lemon juice, and activated charcoal, and it was definitely the highlight of the evening.

For appetizers, my entrée came with the choice of a garden or Caesar salad, and I opted for the garden salad with balsamic dressing. It was very standard. We also shared an order of potato skins, which were generally tasty, but the steak cubes on top were hit or miss—several pieces were mostly gristle. Still, overall, the dish was decent.

For our main courses, my friend ordered the beet salad with chicken. The portion was quite small (in my opinion), and there weren’t many beets included. I had the spaghetti squash with chicken, which was easily enough food for two people. The harissa-coconut cream sauce was very good, and the chicken itself was well prepared. The seasonal vegetables, however, were just okay. The spaghetti squash was a bit too al dente—the skin hadn’t fully released the squash, making it somewhat difficult to eat.

Overall, the meal wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either.

Price-wise, everything felt very expensive for what was offered. This may not be the best choice if you’re dining on a tight budget.

As for the atmosphere, it was a fun spot overall. The dining room we were seated in appears to function as an outdoor seating area during the summer that’s enclosed for the winter. It was comfortable—if maybe a little too warm—and definitely had a cozy vibe.

Unfortunately, we were seated next to several large families with lots of small children, and it became very loud. I have a small child myself, and I choose not to bring him to restaurants because I know how disruptive that can be to other diners. At one point, the noise level was high enough that we couldn’t comfortably have a conversation.

Hands down, the best burger I have ever had. My wife also had the tenderloin, and it was also the best steak I have had in such a long time.

There was some live Christmas music, good vibes, and great drinks. We are heading back for dinner again in two days it was so good!

Great place for breakfast! The potatoes are amazing! Husband had the meatlovers skillet, and had a bite of a banana cake dipped in pancakes batter, then deep fried with whipped cream, its was nuts! We happened to just see the place on our way out from Roslyn. I really like the ambience of the extended area. I bet its great in the summer

Best braised short ribs ever! Tender and tasty. Service was excellent and the cream puff that I had was so good. My pup was aloud in the outside area outback. We will be back. A must stop in Roslyn!

Was able to get an early reservation for a Saturday. We visited with another family who recommended the Coal Chute. Parking was easy. Park anywhere in front or side of what looked to be a converted house to restaurant.

Service was good and attentive. We were seated in the front dining area and it was too noisy even at capacity. Food didn’t take as long as expected since we’re expecting to wait since that was what the other reviews stated. It was nice that they had a kids menu. The food was good. Fresh and hot. Only negatives were a fry burger probably due to being part buffalo and slightly on the pricey side for being in Roslyn. We did end up with a lot of fries since everything came with them. I did appreciate the option of show string fries and thick fries and being able to sub for salad, soup, or sweet potato fries. I’d recommend the thick fries.

Overall, it was a nice meal with friends and service was always there when you needed.

Food is good, service is nice and at tentative ans friendly. Both dining areas inside and out
Side were clean and well lit. I’d give a 5 star but I get the prices were high. The base prices seemed fine but my dining partner and I both opted out of fries and for a healthier side option and there’s a 5$ up charge for that. The French dip sandwich and fried chicken sandwich were quite good.

Mom took us all to the Coal Chute to celebrate Bob’s birthday on Friday. Chute! Shoot! Dinner was amazing for everyone – we all ordered different entrees. Myrna was our waitress – she handled us plus a 15-top plus a couple of other tables as if we were easy customers who she actually enjoyed (and were not easy or enjoyable, trust me!) For dessert, they brought Bob his favorite Weinegars ice cream and sang to him while the 15-top backed them up as their own personal men’s choir. Hilariously good! What an amazing evening! I am just sitting down two days later to my leftover carrot cake which I suckered into on Friday sheerly for its beauty – I was way too full to actually eat it! Omg – this carrot cake is so good even after two days of sitting on my kitchen table in a to-go container! (I know, I should have refrigerated it – but then the frosting and cake would have been stiff and frigid. I’ll deal with it!) The cake is still totally moist and the cream cheese frosting is perfectly thick and creamy at once. This cake and frosting are awesome partly because they are not too sweet! You can taste the carrots and cream cheese! I have decided it is the breakfast of champions. Kudos to the baker!

four of us in total, three of us had breakfast and one had lunch- all agreed every ounce of food was amazing. come to find out the ingredients are all locally sourced and fresh. I had the vegetarian skillet with two Overeasy eggs and sourdoughtoast – yummy! my wife got the eggs Florentine, which again was tremendous. Our friends got the breakfast burrito, which is huge and turkey club equally as good as our meals. The atmosphere was great and come to find out the indoor/outdoor seating that we were at was built on top of an actual coal shoot. this cute little place is loaded with details like reclaimed wood for the tables, tongue and groove planking on the ceilings and walls, mason jars that the ice water is served in, and even the smallest detail if you’re observant enough of the charcoal art piece that is a rendition of an actual photograph found on site of the coal miners. The service was great, kind, and friendly-juxtaposed to the political paraphernalia, adorning the outbuildings beyond the boundaries of the parking lot. overall, I highly recommend this place if you’re passing through Roslyn, they even have a gift shop with souvenirs and baked goods.

truly delicious food. I had the firehouse burger and truffle fries–best truffle fries I’ve ever had no doubt. I don’t know what it’s like to run a business around here in such a small town, but this is not exactly a wallet-friendly place for food. I’m guessing that’s why it tasted so good but it’s worth noting anyway. atmosphere is top notch and the service is so down to earth and quick and friendly to both kids and adults. would absolutely return!
