First time I was here, I was with my friend. I had the paneer ghotala pav. Very interesting seeing how pav bhaji has the bhaji replaced with a paneer dish; it’s elite! Last night I was here with my parents and we got Masala Saya Chaaap, Malai Kofta, and a paneer dish (I forgot what it was called). It’s safe to say we all love it!
Wishing nothing but good things for this place! Hope to come back here again!
My verdict: “The Clove” was not worth the 1 hour 20 minute+ roundtrip drive. It didnt offer value for our money or time. The dishes lacked flavor and food was underwhelming.
Wishing other diners have better luck.
The Beginning: I called ahead to check if “The Clove” takes resevarions, they dont. Given the special day and it being the weekend, we were expecting a wait to be seated even before reaching the restaurant. It took 40 minutes to travel and we reached the restaurant at 7:25 pm. There was the expected crowd. The restaurant told us it would take 15 minutes to get seats, we not not seated until 7:55 pm (so after nearly 30 minutes).
The Wait was Over, Time For Food: Finally we got seated and were so ready to order. The server came a few minutes later and we asked for recommendations. I told him I am looking for the most flavorful dishes on the menu. We ordered all of his recommendations – the Gobi Manchurian, Ragda Samosa, Kadai Paneer and Rich Malia Kofta. We asked for 3 naans. We asked if we should get the soya chop and the server shared he would rather us get the Ragda Samosa, and was insistent and we trusted his opinion and got swayed.
We ordered and food was our very quickly, which made me question how fresh the food truely was. While I appreciated the dishes arriving fast (we were hungry, I didn’t expect food to come within 5 minutes of it being ordered. Gave a sense that things were pre-cooked and just heated up.
The Gobi Manchurian (6 out of 10): The dish while colorful and hearty looking, however lacked a lot of Gobi pieces. It included bell peppers and onions. The flavor was subpar and the Gobi was a bit on the soggy aide. The dish did NOT hit the palate and given it LACKED balance of the crisp and saucy nature. The number of pieces of gobi was disheartening. The onions and bell peppers did not offer the crunch I was looking for.
The Kadia Paneer (4 out of 10): Typically, a Kadai dish is known for its robust, spice-forward profile and a drier, less creamy consistency. However our dish a bit too creamy, which masked the traditional flavors. I closed my eyes to catch the aroma but there was almost nothing there.Visually, the paneer cubes were cut well, but the taste failed to deliver. Upon tasting, the cream was thick and heavy on the turmeric and desperately needed salt. Much like the Manchurian, it was padded with large chunks of bell peppers and onions. The dish was dissapointing.
The Rich Malia Kofta (2 out of 10): It was a dissapoinment. We ordered it based on our servers recommendation. The cream was a copy of the Paneer, except it was diluted. The 3 koftas lacked taste, and instead of the traditional melt in your mouth had zero flavor. For a dish that traditionally is a jewel crown of the menu it was a failure.
The Ragda Samosa (1 out of 10): The biggest dissapoinment. or present well so we waited to taste it. Visually it was sloppy looking with a lot of peas on top and a crushed samosa. We took the first bite and we tasted the undercooked peas. We waived to our server and shared our concern. We wanted to return and get something else. He said he can bring chutney but cant exchange it. He got us imli and green chutney. I asked for some dahi and he got the dahi. Putting the chutney didn’t mask the raw under cooked peas.
The Naan (9.5 out of 10): Amazing! The best part of the dinner. The naan was outstanding, soft and well done.
When I signaled for the check, the server came and asked how everything was. I sharee the meal was underwhelming and didn’t meet expectations. His shared “Sir, we have been busy since this morning, and the c things are running out.” While I appreciate the apology, to be customer first they should have removed the ragda samosa dish from the bill (after I flagged the raw peas) or offered a complimentary dessert as a gesture of goodwill.
However, when I decided to go in person one of the days and eat lunch, It really exceeded my expectations.
The server Yudhvir was very nice, cordial and helpful in recommending a really delicious item on the menu called Amritsari Naan and Chhole.
The naan was so soft and flavorful with its stuffing of potatoes that it simply melted in the mouth. Chhole were really good as well and the dish came with nice, cooling raita, pickles and onion.
I supplemented it with a very delicious and freshly made masala soda ( a fizzy drink made with fresh spices, lemon and soda).
Not to add, the delicious Garlic Naan, Falooda Kulfi and Gulab Jamun that I took home with me as a to go dish to be savored later for my palate
Highly recommend this place for really good Indian Vegetarian food, great service and a very spacious feel
Recently tried their Moong Dal Halwa and it was sheer deliciousness
Immensely tasty, garnished with a generous shower of almonds, mouth melting and so fine in consistency that it bypassed the teeth to go straight down the mouth
Must must try(picture attached)!
I recently ordered lunch from The Clove and was thoroughly impressed. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared, especially considering it was a special Jain order. It’s not always easy to find restaurants that cater so thoughtfully to Jain dietary requirements, but The Clove delivered not only on taste but also on authenticity and care.
What truly stood out was their timely delivery and attention to detail. They ensured every item matched our special request, and the packaging was neat and hygienic. It’s rare to find a place that combines great food with such reliable service.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality vegetarian or Jain cuisine. Will definitely be ordering again!
