We were just out for a drive exploring the area, and decided to stop in to a pub for lunch while exploring Pittsboro. The beer selection wasn’t extensive, but what was offered was good. The only suggestion I would offer for the beer would be to offer a porter or stout that is NOT chocolate. I wanted something darker than a brown ale, but the only stout was chocolate stout. As for the food, we started with the stuffed peppers appetizer, which was full of flavor, and a great way to get started. My wife had one of their specialty hot dogs with sauerkraut added, and it was a tasty, robust dog. I had their Philly cheese steak sandwich, and it was thoroughly enjoyable, perfectly paired with the brown ale they had on tap. We sat at the bar, and the service was attentive, professional, and friendly. All in all this was a good choice for an ad hoc stop for lunch – the next time we’re in the area, we’ll make it an intentional stop.

My husband and I enjoyed lunch. You start inside and order at the bar. They ask if you will sit inside or out and give you a number for your table. We chose to sit outside. Area is covered and very spacious with a high ceiling. Big ceiling fans create nice air flow. Our order was brought within 10 minutes. We had the spinach dip which was yummy and came with pita, tortilla chips, carrots and celery. Great if you have GF individual. We also had a tofu salad with ginger dressing. You can either have the tofu on a salad or sandwich. We chose the salad. Service was great. We look forward to coming back and next time want to try the grilled brownie dessert. There is a city parking lot across the street or parking on the street.

What a fabulous place! We stopped in for a drink and some food after the tree lighting on Sunday and attended the annual Spaghetti Dinner the night before Thanksgiving. What a treat! The folks were all friendly — staff and patrons alike. The Radio, the band, was wonderful. And I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the bathroom! It’s the little things that make a big impression. 10 stars would be my rating if possible for this jewel in the center of Pittsboro!

Love it. Great and fast service. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful, and the food is excellent. I put 4 stars for the atmosphere for 2 reasons: 1) There are certain areas that need attention (cleaning) and 2) Recognizing that this is my own peculiarity, I’m not a fan of dimly lit bars and restaurants. Having said that, City Tap is a must for anyone visiting Pittsboro.

This was a fun little spot that my wife and I stumbled upon. We went hiking in the area and wanted to grab lunch. The service was outstanding. The food was pretty good and the drinks hit the spot.

Nice place for a beer or a bite or just day drinking. I sat at the bar, it’s a good spot for people watching. I had the hot dog which was excellent. I should have expected the Sauerkraut to be cold on this part of the world. It worked as this is coleslaw country but I think I prefer it to be warm on a hot dog. I hadn’t thought about it before though.
Either way, stop for a beer or a bite if you are in the area.

The food was a little slim for the price at first glance, but then I overheard the chef talking about fresh ingredients and recipes, and that makes it more than worth the difference. Great drinks, wonderful service. We’ll be back.

In the interesting town of Pittsboro today to try one of 2 restaurants. Virlie’s, and City Tap. Heard about steak night at Virlie’s but that’s on Friday night and they were closed for the holidays so across the street to City Tap as they were just opening for lunch. Inside dinning was open for around 6 tables, and the bar. They also have a huge covered outdoor area so getting a table shouldn’t be a problem. Order drinks, and your food at the bar, then pick your seating. Only 2 were working the bar/kitchen area, but service was fast even though we were behind 5 groups catching opening time.
I had the tuna melt, the wife had an Italian sub that’s her vessel of choice to compare restaurants. Both served with chips or bean salad.
My tuna was definitely not the canned variety. Tastes of fresh tuna steak, with a touch of onions and supper melty white cheese that passed the stretch test.
The Italian was a cold sub, dressed well with all the Italian meats, red onions and lettuce, and the classic dressing to make it Italian. She liked the crusty hoagie, but prefers a toasted Italian so this didn’t make her favorite.
Great beer on tap and wonderful service. If I didn’t live an hour away I’d be a regular. Give them a try and ask to add a fryer for some fries and onion rings to the party.

I was checking your the art gallery and the boutiques in downtown Pittsboro and stopped for munchies and a beer. Great place and they have a huge covered outdoor area. Bet this place really gets a crowd at night.
