After we (4 of us) were done eating, I asked our very pleasant and attentive waitress if The Choppin Block was under new management or had new cook. She told me no on the change in management and cooks. The reason why I asked was we were at The Choppin Block about 9 or 12 months ago and our experience tonight was a 180 from the last time. The food was cooked as ordered, served at the right temperature and very tasty. Totally pleased with our experience tonight. Well done and keep it going in the right direction.

Excellent hot food bar. As close to home cooking as you are going to find. Not greasy and not over salted. I recommend the fried chicken but follow your heart. As far as I know the hot food bar is only available for lunch Mon-Fri and Sunday. Somebody correct me on those hours if I’m wrong.
Hamburgers are best in town, really good fries and good sandwiches. I’ve had the Reuben and the Club. Good iced tea too.
Now – the steaks are a little pricey and to my taste don’t live up to the enjoyability of the other things I’ve mentioned – still, they aren’t bad and you aren’t going to find better locally.

Food was great. Service was horrible. Arrived at 120. Didn’t get seated until 130. Only 2 other tables were in there. Ordered around 145. Appetizer came out quick. Good thing, because at 205 waiter came by and said he forgot to place our order. Finally got food about 230. Check was dropped off and was ready to be paid at 250. 1 other table was seated but one had left. (3 tables). Did not grab check until 310. I’m not sure what our waiter or the other 4 people were doing, but it sure as hell wasn’t paying attention to the THREE tables that were seated.

Actually, I give this place NO stars at all!! First time there tonight and will NEVER return. Were seated immediately but waited around fifteen minutes for a server to come by and take our drink orders (mind you, it was not busy). Took awhile to get our drinks and yet waited another twenty minutes to place our order. Asked several times when our order was to be ready and they kept saying “five more minutes”. Server was to talk to manager, who never came by. One guy came by and asked how we were and when we told him “not good on account we still hadn’t received our dinner”, he never apologized, walked to the kitchen and told us “it’s on its way”. After waiting for our food over an hour that NEVER came, we had enough. The hostess apologized as we were heading out and told us to forget about payment for our drinks and we left. By the way, they are ridiculously over-priced!!

I’m mixed on what I should put for stars. We came in at 2pm, an hour before they close on Sunday. As soon as we sat down, they started flipping chairs and mopping the floor all around us. Nothing like the potent smell of pinesol and people sweeping under the table your sitting at while trying to talk, then while eating when the food came. The food was good. Our waitress was very nice. I’m just shocked that they would clean to the extent of mopping with harsh chemicals right beside us while eating. I get that they want to get out of there, but if they want to close at 2pm, they should…

Good food and decent service. Wait times vary but you can plan on a little wait. Prices are a bit steep in my opinion.
Live music, when they have it, is generally good. You’ll have to come early to get a seat in the bar if you want to listen to the group.

Wonderful homestyle lunch on our road trip. We love eating local rather than chain restaurants when we travel and what a gem. I had the lunch special chopped steak with gravy, mashed potatoes and turnip greens. Excellent

Came in on a Friday night. Waited 40 minutes for 2 Baked Potatoes and a cup of soup. Spoke with the manager and he apologized for the wait and said they were short handed. He was kind. The waitress also apologized for the wait. The loaded potato soup was good but the baked potatoes tasted old, like they’d been reheated. Will probably come back to give it one more try, but we were definitely not impressed with this place!

Let me begin by saying I am giving my account of what happened and the reason why my family will never return there again.
We’ve tried this location in the past when it used to be a seafood restaurant and that was just an ok place at the time. We decided to give this place a shot as to something different for a change. It was not jam packed so the slowness of them even getting drink orders was close to 10 minutes later after we were seated… add another 15 for getting our orders put in. The young guy did provide a couple of baskets of 4 rolls during the time but we waited close to another 40 minutes before we had enough. The waiter even admitted it should not have taken that long and kept apologizing but that doesn’t help when you’re trying to get food! I didn’t even start getting mad about this until it was at the 40 minute mark. There were people that came in after us that were getting their orders, but I am simply making an assumption when I say it was probably regulars. A large group next to us.. I noticed… had waited a while for them to even take their orders. Supposed manager came by and asked is everything settled? UH NO!!!! He said let me go check… came back out and said it would be there in 2 minutes. BS!!! After 5, we got up and I asked the hostess what I owed on the drinks and she had the only right answer of the night… No sir…you can just leave and I am sorry. As they say.. we were OUT!
If you’re not from around there, you may want to look elsewhere. It reminds me of those off road diners in suspense or horror flicks that have their own code, if you know what I mean.
