The Chimes East on Coursey in Baton Rouge is a well hidden jewel of a local dining experience. The atmosphere and decor are great. I ordered the blackened pork chop with root beer glaze. STUNNING! The jambalaya side was good, but that pork chop was incredible. My wife ordered the seafood pasta and it was fantastic as well. The FIL ordered a roast beef poboy and loved it. They have a large beer menu and do sampling flights. The crown jewel in this place is the staff. From the hostess that seated us and laughed and joked along the way with us to our server Maddie. In my father in laws words, if we could find a way to bottle that energy, we would put Red Bull out of business. She was very attentive, laughed at my dumb jokes, and took great care of us. It is one thing when a restaurant is mediocre and has a meal saving staff, but when a great place has this top notch staff, it is refreshing. Definitely will return.

Coming back to Baton Rouge—I had to stop at The Chimes — and wow, it’s still just as amazing as I remembered. Some places change, but The Chimes feels timeless.

I kicked things off with the Sautéed Crab Fingers — crab claws in white wine garlic butter with parsley. Honestly, that sauce alone is worth the trip.

Then came my entrée: the Salmon Alfredo. Perfectly cooked salmon over creamy alfredo pasta, with a warm bread roll on the side. Comfort food at its finest.

Walking back in after all these years felt like nothing had changed — the food, the vibe, the memories. The Chimes is still the spot that makes Baton Rouge feel like home.

The Chimes East has the perfect blend of a relaxed, fun vibe and great food. The place feels lively but never overwhelming. The menu has plenty of choices, and everything we tried was really good. My salmon was cooked just right and tasted delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the tables were spaced nicely, so it felt comfortable throughout the meal. I would definitely go back.

Went here with my buddies—and it was a great experience! The wait time was 1 hour and thirty minutes–but its understood when you see how PACKED this place is!
The food is tasty, soda fizzy, and we had a phenomenal server! I would give him a shout out, but i didn’t catch his name. Anyways, the wait time for our food was under 30 minutes, and overall service is fast!! our three meals together was only $80. Not bad, not bad at all 🙂

The food and service were great. We left an item at the table and realized it 1.5 hours later and west of there on the continuation nif a long road trip. Despite multiple calls and the offer to give a sizable tip to someone to mail it to me, they refused. I would not go back and someone missed out on a $100 tip!

We find The Chimes East is a great combination of a fun and casual atmosphere and good dining. The atmosphere is lively without being too loud. We found the food is good, with a fairly extensive menu. My salmon was cooked perfectly. The staff are friendly and attentive and the table spacing is comfortable.

Chimes East was recommended to me by a Baton Rouge native and I’m so glad I trusted their judgement! We had the Seared Crab Claws as an appetizer and they were so flavorful and delicious. I had the Blackened Grill Chicken for my entree with a a side of Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya. The grilled chicken was seasoned to PERFECTION and the jambalaya was sooooo GOOD!!!!! Dip the baguette in the crab claw juice and it elevated it to a whole new level. Everything was so amazing. It’s extremely rare for me to be dreaming about leftovers but I can’t wait to finish off my chicken and jambalaya at the hotel later.

Although the restaurant was busy around 2 PM on a Saturday, there was no wait for a table and we were seated upstairs immediately upon arrival. Our server was polite and friendly, offering great service. The ambience was casual and laid back which I appreciate after a long morning of flying into NOLA and making the drive to Baton Rouge. I can’t wait to find another reason to be back in BR just so I can dine here again. Overall 9.5/10!

I had a few recommendations to try in this restaurant alligator, shrimp gumbo, Char-grilled Oysters, and crawfish Etouffé. And everything was extraordinarily delicious. This is definitely a place I should return to. I wasn’t disappointed with any of their dishes. My servers understood that I wanted to try different things, and they definitely hit the nail on the head with their recommendations.
