For more than 85 years, the Chickenburger, known as Canada’s oldest drive-up diner, has been a favourite Nova Scotia spot for classic chickenburgers, beef burgers, fries and handspun shakes. Families & friends, students, longtime regulars and visitors to Bedford come back again and again for their favourite diner burger and our warm & friendly service. Some grab a seat inside listening to the sounds of our jukebox, while others keep the tradition of eating in their parked car, watching the neon lights and Bedford traffic roll by.

Amazing cute restaurant. I love the style on the inside of the diner and the colours that they chose. I love that they posted all the history of the restaurant. Everyone in the restaurant was very friendly and the food of course was amazing and tasted great.

So I grew up coming here occasionally and while back for a quick visit popped in with a friend, despite some of the negative reviews. I ordered my standby burger, fried and chocolate shake. It was all perfect….right sized burger, perfect crisp fries and that thin chocolate shake I remember. The Chickenburger has been doing smash- burgers for decades ….and they remain GREAT. Friendly attentive service, decent prices, can’t go wrong.

Don’t waste your money. We keep going there wanting it to be good and everytime we throw our milkshakes out and can’t believe how bad the fries and burgers are. This time I even tried the shake and asked them to remake them and to put ice cream in and I could tell immediately when I picked it up it was the exact same as the first round. Watery milk. Tossed them. Sad because the atmosphere is awesome and we even got engaged there but it’s crap.

Just average diner. Meal is tasty and normal prices, but don’t expect something special. Friendly staff and interesting atmosphere of old American diners.

It’s been covered before, but adding my voice. The poor Innes’ must be spinning in their graves. The Chickenburger… yikes… gone so far downhill.
Tonight I took my daughters before their dance class. Two 3-piece chicken tender meals with rings and milk, and a chicken burger combo for me (with rings and an extra burger), $70…. You can go to a sit down and get a better meal for less.
The chicken burgers were soggy and small (size of a hockey puck). The tenders were SYSCO specials.
And the service… the folks working all had English as a second language. None of the kids you’d usually see working at the Chick. Lots of confusion, and a challenge to place the order. The first time round, she told me the total was over $80. Only after she went back through, and got help from two others, did the price fall to $70 (which is still insane).
It’s sad. I’ve been going for 30+ years. This was probably the last time. Prices need to fall, service get better, and quality go back to where it used to be.

An iconic restaurant in Bedford, this place is a staple of the Halifax area.. I’m the 3rd generation going here and my kids are the 4th generation.
The chicken burgers are classic sandwiches and hot and fresh every time I’ve visited. Not to mention their hamburgers are the classic beef patties, freshly made and taste amazing.
Definitely a place worth visiting if you haven’t, I always visit The ChickenBurger when I’m visiting back home.
Highly recommended.
