Updating based on a return visit since they’ve reopened post-fire. Same amazing food in a wonderful, bright space. Nice to see familiar wait staff. They’re slowly adding menu items – the ribs were back for our visit … so good! We are fortunate to have this restaurant as an option once again.
This place is fabulous! Some of the most creative and tasty dishes you’ll find in the Midwest. The mix of Nepalese and Himalayan cuisine is truly a unique treat, all inspired by Nepal native Chef Barkha, who is an inspired entrepreneur. You have to try it!

As I write this review if I could remember the names of the foods I had I’d be a genius. Anyways we started off with, or I should say I started off with, a wonderful tequila drink infused with shiitake mushrooms, ii had a frothy top and a wonderful citrus taste, and then went to the next item up for business. I don’t have the current drink menu for me to properly address the drink but it was a wonderful play on a coconut daiquiri. And then I had the trio of their dishes, again I don’t believe it’s updated on their menu if it is I’m sorry I missed it. It was delicious what a combination of flavors! I had in one little bowl a wild boar meat selection and then I had on the side I had some chicken which was delicious and some rice along with three dipping sauces. Couldn’t have been a nicer set of employees serving us. It was nice because we sat at the bar so we were able to converse with a multitude of the staff. Great job keep it up!

Took my friend here for a birthday dinner and it was fabulous! Service was great, Zack/Zach explained everything thoroughly and made great suggestions. The food was phenomenal and had lots of flavor without a lot of salt which seems hard to find these days. We had an awesome time and will be back!

As a Nepali, I’ve always cherished the flavors of Nepalese momo and Thakali set from my childhood. Despite having tried Nepalese food in the US before, nothing quite matched the authenticity and taste until I discovered Cheel. From the moment I stepped in, it felt like I was back in Nepal. The food was not just good, but exceptional, and I truly felt like being back in Nepal The service was impeccable, and meeting the owner, a delightful Nepali lady, was a highlight. Her warmth added to the experience, making it even more memorable. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking to savor authentic Nepalese cuisine.

The food was made fresh and everything we had was quite delicious. Loved the environment and the waitress Cindy was so kind and attentive. A great gem hidden in the suburbs, highly recommend!

My husband and I went there for dinner on a busy Friday night. Though we got a table in about 10 minutes, the waiting area was pretty cramped and the waitresses were cramped for space and struggling to get the food out. Even we were uncomfortable standing next to the door and very close to another table. I wish they had a small waiting area..
Now to the positives. The food was amazing!! Very good vegetarian options.. We had baked veggie momos, besan gyaw, cheeli, and rajma burger+aalo fries. We loved the food! It was our first time trying Nepalese cuisine. It was very interesting to see how similiar, yet different it was to Indian food.
A must try place and definitely worth the drive. I would love to visit The Cheel again.

Girls night at the Cheel did not disappoint. The new building is beautiful, the staff are welcoming and seem to genuinely want to interact with their customers, and I could write a whole paper about how delicious the food and drink were. If you’re thinking of going to the Cheel, don’t think about it- JUST GO! My friends and I discovered a new favorite establishment. We will absolutely be back.

Amazing service, great food. Jesse really made us feel welcome. A happy crowd included young families, sophisticated couples, and a few old jazz fans like us. I heard a small child ask his mom if there was anything there he could eat and he must have liked his choice because we heard no complaints from that quarter. The guitar, organ and conga group in the corner played standards with interesting rifs. The music brought us here and the well-seasoned ambiance will bring us back.

Lamb Souvlaki. This delicately marinated and grilled lamb skewer is paired with seared Manouri cheese, drizzled with a pomegranate Kashmiri paprika honey glaze. Accompanied by traditional tzatziki sauce and a fresh Greek salad, this dish promises an authentic and flavorful experience.
This classic dish will be perfectly complemented by an elegant red wine, Côtes du Rhône. With vibrant aromas and flavors of red fruit, particularly strawberry, this wine enhances the richness of the meal, creating a delightful pairing.

If you want to experience unique and flavorful dishes that make your taste buds sing, make a trip to the Cheel. Greeted at the door by a cheerful hostess, seated at comfortable table and chairs (high tops are available in bar area) and provided drink menus first. Waitress greeted us and took drink order shortly thereafter. Table mate is a bourbon drinker and there was a small but nice selection. Chose the Blanton’s and was satisfied. I enjoyed the Yeti summer cocktail. We had no experience with Himalayan/Nepalese cuisine. Waitress patiently went through the whole menu with us. Settled on the Nepali Thali which gave us a variety of dishes to try: : bandel roganjosh, kukhura tarkari, saffron basmati rice, choice of dal, seasonal vegetables, ghew, kenema, & classic aachar. always concerned about the heat of dishes since I do not tolerate any heat at all and the dishes come with a variety of sauces from mild to eat at your own risk. Not a problem as long as I did not add the sauces. Looking forward to returning and exploring more dishes.
