The Charlestown Rathskeller started out as a speakeasy in a different time, and has grown into something entirely unique since then. Nestled in the woods of Charlestown since 1933, the Rathskeller has become one of the unique dining and entertainment destinations in Southern New England. Guests enjoy the best steaks, local seafood, burgers and sandwiches in our meticulously restored dining room and tavern, beautiful outdoor patio, and at our indoor and outdoor bars. Just across the backyard of the restaurant sits our rustic outdoor music and entertainment venue. Our summer stage, backyard bar and burger shack surround a roaring bonfire on cool summer nights.

My partner and I went for Valentine’s day and I got the bacon blue burger, I was having trouble eating it because it didn’t agree with my stomach and our waitress brought me some kind of mixed gingerale concoction and didn’t even put it on the bill. It’s beautiful, my partner loved their surf and turf and the service was great!

This spot was recommended by a friend and we’re so very glad we took the trip. For one it’s a beautiful drive and the handicapped parking was convenient and fresh right next to deck entrance. We got there right before it got busy and the service was awesome. I loved the fireplace running and it has quite the cozy atmosphere. We decided to share a lot of platerb and not a single dish was a let down. Beautiful flavors on everything especially the stuffed clams. Probably the best I’ve ever had, the andouille flavor was a game changer.

Nice place good food we had burgers, DELICIOUS Mushroom Swiss burgers, cooked perfectly. Let me clue you in on the FRENCH FRIES-SHORT RIB AND GRAVY TOPPED. My goodness that gravy is so savory and has a depth of flavor that was outstanding-the gravy was littered with scrumptious, tender bits of beef short ribs They certainly do not skimp on portions! A small order fed two of us – with some to take home.
Service was good our waitress Emma( I remembered to ask her name)was a delight , She took great care of us.I had the Summer Strawberry cocktail , very tasty also. Busy Saturday night. Locals love this place-I am not surprised. It has its own following. I’m glad we stopped in. Another place I look forward to coming back to.

Had a lovely birthday dinner here for a family member. The place is very cool and casual. Indoors, the AC was pumping, and it was playing loud music. We sat outside where it was more quiet and laid back. They have a big area for playing cornhole and even had a concert starting in another area. The concert was far enough away that we could hear it, but it was not loud or distracting. The food was very good. It has a German- American-Seafood vibe. Everyone was happy with their meals. Would definitely return.

Love this place. Food is always top notch, especially the Jagerschnitzel. Unreal. The fries were terrific, wife’s veggy burger was very tasty and daughter’s Mac & Cheese was a big hit for her. We all left full and happy!

Love the place but disappointed in the menu change. If it’s not broken don’t fix it! The calamari was better with the aioli instead of the red sauce. Also, the bacon and corn fritters were a big hit! Too bad you took them off the menu everything else was very good!

It was our first time at The Charlestown Rathskeller after it was highly recommended. And WOW!! We were so impressed. Our server was super friendly and attentive. We ordered the pretzel, which you have to get with the beer cheese. My wife’s watermelon margarita was so good, and we all loved our entrees. This is a place that is definitely worth the drive!!
