I ate the deviled eggs and the gumbo. The deviled eggs were so creamy and delicious I only would of added more hot sauce for July liking but they were good.
The gumbo was warm and flavorful, it had a lot of green chilies in so it was a little spicy.
I’m a fan of classic cocktais, so I ordered a black manhattan. No regrets It was quite excellent and I savored it.
Mostly out of curiosity – but I was also starting to pick up on the decidedly New Orleans vibe – I ordered the shrimp poboy.
When I bit into it, I almost fell out of my chair! If I had been wearing glasses, I would have thrown them…
It was *exactly* a New Orleans poboy. As soon as I bit into it, I knew the owner of this place is SERIOUS about the quality of the food they serve.
Here’s the deal: New Orleans poboys are made on a French baguette. But when the baguette is made using water sourced from the lower Mississippi River delta, it rises less and the outer layer takes on a characteristic crunchiness and flaky quality. This makes sandwiches made in NOLA unique because that bread cannot be duplicated anywhere else in the world.
Now you see why I was so impressed. These lunatics import the bread they use just to make this one sandwich from Gambino’s bakery to ensure perfect authenticity. They do this and do not mention it on the menu. They won’t even say anything about it unless you notice it and bring up the subject. I think that tells you everything you need to know about this place right there
Nick was very friendly and took care of our group. The burgers, tendies, fries and tater tots were all so good!
They are also one of the Austin FC Official bars and I love seeing other fans there to enjoy the game. They have a pool table and darts inside; outside you’ll find a good amount of seating since they’ve converted part of the parking lot in in patio. They are also very much dog friendly and even have treats at the bar!
They have recently opened up Wicky’s Walk Up which has also has a great menu and different drink options.
Don’t forget they have Drag Brunch on Sundays and buy one get one Burger Night on Mondays.
Highly recommend this place.
There were two bartenders (you order at the bar), service was eh. It’s a very laid back place but almost not attentive.
One thing that did annoy me was their website says “favorite non sports bar to watch sports”, they only have 3 tvs. Only 1 was actually turned on, and not on sports. On a day with nfl preseason games and first day of college football.
There is a pool table and 3 dart boards here too.
Also have frozen dog treats for $1.
