Summary tagline: A Sock-it-to-me cake bun with rich cinnamon swirls
*Price* It was actually the priciest “cinnamon roll” I have ever seen.
*Size* It was quite large for a cinnamon roll.
*Frosting* A lot of soft cream cheese frosting and not too sweet (perfect!). It was midway between runny and firm. Like a cream cheese frosting with milk or that had not set . I scraped most of my frosting to the side.
*Moistness* The cinnamon roll was still warm and moist about 4 hours after I bought it.
*Cinnamon* There was loads of cinnamon in these buns. The filling was a slurry – a mix of candied brown sugar/cinnamon/butter chunks and caramel depending on where you were in your cinnamon roll journey. The closer you got to the center of the cinnamon roll the gooier the rolls became. I actually discarded the center because the rolls got a little too sweet and gooey for me after already eating the rest of the cinnamon roll.
*Texture* The breading was really soft guys! I think this is a Sock-it-to-me cake.
Overall the texture was crisp almost like fried dough (a la churros) on the edges (due to the butter and sugar), very soft in the interior, slurry between the layer, soft frosting
*Taste* I mentioned the cakey similarities earlier. Unlike cake there was a dose of richness in each bite – salted butter/brown sugar, nothing overbearing.
Final verdict. Definitely try these cinnamon rolls. They are quite different (richer and I am pretty sure they used baking powder for the cake texture) and unique in a good way. Gift this as a cake.
Not only is it shop atmosphere cozy, simple and DIVINE at The Cat and Rabbit, the service is wonderful.
The cashiers/servers/baristas make it really clear upon your arrival where you can find the cakes and where go to place your order.
Icing on the cake (fitting pun) – The Cat & Rabbit currently have a VEGAN CAKE THIS MONTH! ♥️
If you or someone you know is unable to have dairy, run [do not walk] to The Cat and Rabbit for a slice of this cake before the end of the month. It is creamy, delicious, and you are unable to identify the lack of dairy-free. This cake was ah-mazing!
I HIGHLY recommend The Cat and Rabbit.
The staff was friendly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made the visit even more enjoyable. The bakery boasts cute seating options both indoors and outdoors, perfect for savoring your treats in a cozy setting. Additionally, the convenience of parking right adjacent to the store made the trip hassle-free.
Overall, this bakery is a lovely spot to enjoy delicious cakes, friendly service, and a relaxing ambiance. Highly recommended for anyone passing through or looking for a sweet treat!
My husband and I had a dream to have our own slice bar for our wedding, and we even waiting to seriously plan anything until they were back to taking whole cake orders. We asked several months in advanced to get 9 cakes just how they normally would decorate them, because it’s the cake itself that mattered to us. People loved trying and sharing 4+ flavors of amazing cake, and we were left with less cake leftover than you might think. Also love that in their new space they’re able to expand and have more GF/DF, and vegan options.
