I have been super hesitant to write this as I have been to this place on multiple occasions; I want to love it, but I feel like I am burnt out.

While I understand the main focus of Castle is a board game bar, they do host other events for trading card games. At a recent Magic the Gathering event, the space was overbooked and too crowded, and the room where the event took place was poorly heated. I thought to shrug it off, though the overall experience was challenging with the space provided. It was also disappointing as the cost for the event was more expensive than other surrounding locations; again, I understand they are a business and need to make profits, though this was another disappointment. One part that Castle cannot control was the other players that join; several other players made the experience less than ideal, and made it a less relaxing environment.

The times I have eaten at Castle have also been a let down. From food taking an extended time to come out, to the quality of the food with the total cost, it has made eating before or after visiting Castle the go-to option.

The service staff themselves have always been great, the servers are extremely kind and have always been on top of their game.

Lastly, the cost overall is a challenging point. The beverage prices are a bit expensive when you take in the cost of paying the fee to play their games. It has become more cost effective to go to a local brewery and bring your own games.

Again, I have tried several times, but after my last few visits, I cannot justify the cost anymore.

The Castle is hands down one of my favorite spots. The atmosphere and food are amazing!! They have a delicious menu (yes edible menus, j/k). But really food is great and the staff are the best!

As someone who plays MTG it’s perfect place to hang out with friends and enjoy a great meal at the same time. Good vibes all around.

Perfectly chill, nerdy and accommodating. Progressive, LGBTQ friendly, dog friendly. Great variety of drinks, beer and cocktails. Insane amount of board games to play in house or to rent for home use. Lovely medieval decor And wall art. Wheelchair access. Patio seating available. Separate bar downstairs. And a secret hidden door to find!

This place is awesome! My girlfriend and I stopped in tonight, and both the food and drinks were A+ delicious. There is a full room stocked with a huge selection of board games you can play while you eat/drink, plus a separate bar area if you’re just looking to grab some drinks and food (or do friday karaoke!). There is definitely something for everyone here including vegetarian and non-vegetarian options for food, and great seasonal drink choices. Staff was super friendly and willing to help pick a game, so no sweat if you’re there to play game! We’ll be back! Great place to have in the neighborhood

Firt time here, service was terrible! Our waitress forgot about us and left us waiting for 23 minutes for Splenda and cream. One of our party never got their drinks. Food took 40 minutes to BEGIN to come out, two of us got our food wrong and we ordered very simple things ( burgers, salad, mac and cheese) . The burger was tough and tasteless. The waitress acted like I was bothering her when I asked what the sides were ( not printed on the menu) the environment is cool, but $6 a person to play a board game is a bit much. Would likely not return or recommend.

We recently celebrated my sister and brother-in-law’s wedding and reception at The Castle and the experience was nothing short of amazing. Although weddings aren’t something they typically host, they welcomed us with open arms and went above and beyond to make the day seamless and unforgettable.

From the planning stages to the final moments of the celebration, every staff member we encountered was kind, professional, and incredibly helpful. They allowed us to bring our own board-game themed decorations, which helped us make the space feel personal and unique for the wedding itself. The food/drink was absolutely delicious and it was a big hit with all of our guests. Our entire micro wedding party loves board games so it was the perfect atmosphere to have this celebration.

The Castle itself is already a fun and inviting place but what truly made the event shine was the dedication and care of the people who worked there. They helped us transform a unique request into a beautiful reality, and for that, our family is deeply grateful. A huge thank you to Aeryn, Elliot, Zee, TJ, Max, and so many more.

I cannot recommend The Castle highly enough. It will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

The Castle has a wonderful array of board games and the kindest staff. I always enjoy coming for trivia, having a drink, and some soft pretzels.

It hits the spot, but more importantly it’s a really fun spot to hang out. The poutine was surprisingly good (super cheesy) and they had interesting cocktails. The real draw is the pleasant, accepting atmosphere that they work hard to achieve. Love this spot.

I can’t rave about this place enough. So many games to play, there is something for everyone! Great food! Great drinks! And so many fun events every month! I bring all my friends here. And the staff and owners are so so nice. Great people. Phenomenal vibes. (Also highly recommend the poutine)

I’ve been coming to the castle for about 7 years. It’s a true third space that’s so rare these days. It’s a true community space and when I’m there I feel like I’m among my people.

It’s a place for trivia, for new years and halloween and christmas and birthdays and magic the gathering and drag shows and just about any other time you can think of. It’s not perfect, we’d love to see more gluten free options on the menu, and I miss the flavored popcorn immensely, but the Castle is a special place and i’ll proudly come back for the next 10 years too. Happy anniversary guys!
