I’ve been coming to this food cart for a quite a while. The sandwiches, homemade sauerkraut (especially the habanero kraut), and the soups made from scratch, are all delicious. I’ve never had less than fantastic experience at The Cast Iron Skillet. If you like quality ingredients and food that you can taste the care that goes into it, this is a must try spot; food that’s like a warm blanket on your soul.

Great food. I had a Reuben and Mushroom Bacon soup. Flavors were rich and delicious. The marbled rye is perfection. I like the finishing salt on the top of the sandwich, I think Maldon sea salt would be a better texture but thats a minuscule point.
The soup was absolutely amazing. Great texture and flavor, very balanced. Salty, acidic, creamy, smooth.
I will definitely eat here again.

Freshly made, hearty, sandwiches with deli meat sliced on site. Veggie and vegan options, homemade wholesome soups… The grilled cheese sandwiches with extras and the Italian sub are to die for! As is the Zuppa Toscana soup.

Ordered the grilled cheese and avocado. $9
I thought it was tasty and yummy but I think next time I’ll ask the guy to be more “assertive” with the grilling — cheese wasn’t melted all the way and the bread was barely toasted. Temp needed to be turned up.
Sampled the clam chowder and will try that next time! ($5 for a bowl. Sample was free)
Thought it neat they serve RC and Squirt.

Have a high standard for Ruben Sandwichs growing up in Northwest Portland. The homemade habanero sauerkraut was unbelievably good and one of the best Rubens I’ve ever had! Off the charts delicious!! I will be back!
