Had the buffet. Turkey and mashed potatoes were very good. The salad bar was also good. The shrimp and fish were very browned and very crunchy and their appearance should have been noticed before serving.
The pies were excellent.
The server was excellent.

This is one of my favorite restaurants not only in the area, but in the country. I’ve come here off and on for about 20-25 years and I’ve never had a bad meal, never had bad service, and always leave full. Casselman has some of the best desserts and meals around!

Excellent dinner at the Casselman. Chicken noodle soup, Rachel sandwich, cherry pie with ice cream. I’ve recently eaten at restaurants in Greece and France and they were great but there’s nothing like a really good home-style meal at a place like this. Actually there aren’t a lot of places like this, so if you’re in the area don’t miss the Casselman.

God lead us to casselman in 2024 during a white out coming from TX to pen we hit a white out coming thru Maryland we exit off the freeway took a left and there was the casselman. I went in to see if they were open to have dinner with open arms they invited us in and let us know they also had a hotel. We we’re so blessed. We hit a white out could not see the road in front of us and hungry they took care of us what a blessing they were. They food was great the service was fantastic the people were awesome and we still go back today and we live in portage PA. My husband loves there salsberry steak and I love their hot bread and apple butter. I wouldn’t change nothing about the casselman. Our name is still in the book that we signed. We had our children grandchildren and dog with us.

I’ve gotta take the time to write a review since I discovered this gem a few weeks ago. I travel to WV several times a year and like to take the northern route back home which takes me through Garrett County, MD. The roast beef here is fantastic with their obviously homemade gravy! The bread and apple butter before the meal is such a treat, and man do these people know what they are doing with baked goods. The service is excellent and the food comes out quickly, even on my most recent visit on a busy Saturday. The host even noticed I was dining by myself and said she had a table for one available while everyone else ahead of me was a group of 4 or 6. That level of caring about details is what makes a restaurant run smoothly. I appreciate The Casselman and all the staff and I cannot wait to go back.

Been going to here for many years. We probably won’t return because the quality of the meals have dropped. Last meal ordered the chopped steak with mushrooms onions and cheese on a bun. Dry, burnt, and very small in size for $11. Had a salad and it was a bit wilted. Runny dressing. It came out the same time as my sandwich. Sitting there for a while would have been nice to eat prior. My wife had chicken and it tasted almost like my chopped steak. The great part is the bread served. We both decided not to return because of over the course of time, it’s not consistent and taste went downhill. Honestly, McDonalds would have been better. The experience has definitely taking a turn down. The worst part was there were only 2 other customers seated and waited to be seated 10+ minutes. Not for us anymore.

My husband and I went in for breakfast and it was not very busy. We were seated quickly and our server brought waters and coffee, but then our experience went downhill from there.
I ordered a simple meal of meat and eggs. My order consisted of poached eggs, bacon, and marble rye toast. My husband ordered the Farmer’s Breakfast (I think that’s what it is called) and got scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and buckwheat pancakes.
We sat and chatted and I finished my coffee and set cup on side of table for a refill. After awhile I checked my watch and it had been almost 30 minutes since we ordered. I knew the food wouldn’t be good when it was served.
The waitress finally brought our food and gave me a refill on coffee and water but did not refill my husbands (his was 3/4 empty. The plates were lukewarm at best. My husbands eggs were cold and flavorless, the sausage was decent, and his buckwheat pancakes, had they been served hot, would have been good. I pierced my poached eggs only to find they were hard in center, as if they were cooked and sat under a heat lamp.
Our waitress didn’t return to the table, even though I set the plate on the side, obviously alerting her to an issue. My husband ate his breakfast, more out of hunger than good food. When waitress finally returned I told her I didn’t want a new plate of food, I wanted it removed from my bill.
