Skipped their famous steak today because we came for the burger and wine pairing Happy Hour menu — I ordered the Wagyu Mushroom & Swiss Burger, and it is absolutely delicious!
The Cheesesteak is a bit fluffy, unlike the dense New York style, but was good coupling with fresh berries.
Service was good.
Our New Year’s Eve reservation was unfortunately messed up and we weren’t able to get a table that night. While that alone could have ended the story, what happened next was extraordinary. John, the General Manager, went completely above and beyond — he somehow found our phone number from the reservation and personally called us on New Year’s Eve night to apologize and invite us back, promising they would make it right.
And wow… did they ever.
We returned with our kids and were treated like absolute VIPs. David, the manager that evening, along with our incredible waitress, made the entire experience flawless from start to finish. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind — not forced, not scripted, just true hospitality. To top it all off, they comped our entire meal (nearly $500), which was beyond generous and completely unexpected.
We’ve eaten at all the high-end steakhouses in Scottsdale and honestly never thought The Capital Grille would become a regular spot for us — but it 100% will be now. The way they handled a mistake, owned it, and then exceeded every possible expectation is rare these days.
John, David, and the entire team were truly above and beyond amazing. We are so grateful and cannot recommend this location enough. If you want world-class service that actually means something, this is the place.
My father and I had an incredible dining experience at The Capital Grille in Scottsdale. The wine selection was fantastic and paired beautifully with the meal. The atmosphere was elegant and welcoming—perfect for a special night out.
I ordered the Double Cut Lamb Chops, and wow—what a dish! I couldn’t believe how much meat there was, and each bite was incredibly tender and full of flavor. Perfectly prepared and beautifully presented.
The service was top-notch—attentive, professional, and friendly without being overbearing. Every detail, from start to finish, was spot-on.
Well done to the entire team. This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Can’t wait to come back!
When my filet arrived, I was not provided a steak knife and had to cut my steak with a butter knife – a basic oversight that shouldn’t happen anywhere, let alone at an upscale steakhouse. I had to flag down staff to get the proper utensil.
I requested red wine reduction for my filet, which is a standard sauce offering at Capital Grille. The server informed me they “only offer that at night” and didn’t offer to check with the kitchen or suggest alternatives. At a fine dining establishment where I’m paying premium prices, I expect more flexibility – the kitchen clearly has the ingredients and capability to prepare a basic pan sauce regardless of whether it’s on the lunch menu.
The food quality itself was fine, but the inattentive service and rigid approach to simple requests made for a frustrating experience. For what I paid, I expected the level of attentiveness and accommodation that Capital Grille is known for.
I hope management addresses these service gaps, as the restaurant has the potential to deliver a much better experience.
