The Capital Grille proves that lunch can still feel like an occasion. From the moment I arrived, Jeff, the greeter, set the tone—welcoming, polished, and effortlessly professional. The kind of greeting that immediately lowers your shoulders and raises your expectations.
My server, Marlenny, was outstanding. Warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, she mastered the art of attentive lunch service without ever making the meal feel rushed. Everything flowed smoothly, calmly, and with care.
Now, the food—because this lunch came to perform.
The Field Greens Salad was crisp, fresh, and restrained in the best way. A light, elegant opener that refreshes rather than fills, setting the table for what’s coming next.
The Butternut Squash Bisque with Curried Apples, Mint Gremolata, and Honey was silky and layered, balancing sweetness and spice beautifully. Comforting without being heavy—exactly the kind of soup you want at lunch when you still plan to function afterward.
The Maine Lobster Salad with Citrus Vinaigrette, ordered as a main, was a standout. Generous chunks of lobster, bright citrus notes, and a refreshing lightness that somehow manages to feel both indulgent and appropriate for midday. Luxurious without being overwhelming—this dish understands lunch etiquette.
The Burrata and Tomatoes delivered creamy freshness and balance, cutting through richer flavors like a palate-cleansing intermission.
The Honey-Crusted Double Cut Lamb Rib Chops were rich, tender, and confidently executed—sweet, savory, and undeniably indulgent. Paired with creamed spinach that was velvety and decadent without crossing into excess, it was steakhouse comfort done right.
The steak with Capital Grille’s signature sauce was exactly what you want it to be: perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and enhanced—not masked—by the sauce. Classic, reliable excellence.
And the lemonade deserves its own nod—bright, refreshing, and clearly not an afterthought. A small detail that quietly reinforces the overall quality of the experience.
Final Foodie verdict:
Capital Grille at lunch delivers elevated dining without the heaviness or formality of dinner. With Jeff setting a welcoming tone and Marlenny guiding the experience with grace, this was a lunch that felt indulgent, relaxed, and impeccably handled. My faves were the tomatoes and burrata, the butternut squash bisque with curried apples and the steak with the signature Sauce. It’s the kind of midday meal that makes you slow down—and honestly? That’s the real luxury in the City that Never Sleeps.
We had the lobster cake, which was the only good thing that we liked. It was a little on the fishy side, but nothing that the sauce and the lemon couldn’t fix.
We also had the fried calamari honestly wouldn’t recommend. We thought that it was gonna be paired with the sauce and it didn’t come with anything. They also weren’t super fried, which would have maybe made it a little bit better but definitely needed a sauce paired with it.
For entrées, we ordered the steak. My steak was a little overcooked. I asked for medium well and basically got it cooked well. My partner had a medium in his was okay but more to the medium well cooking. They were a little on the burnt flavoring.
For the sides, we had the asparagus, which was pretty good. We also had the mac & cheese. Honestly, you can skip the mac & cheese. We didn’t like the flavoring. It lacked flavor and it just tasted like it had American cheese on it.
We also had the black tie margarita. It was okay. As well as a Moscato probably wouldn’t order that one again because it wasn’t sweet. It was very bitter.

I had the absolute best experience at The Capital Grille thanks to our server, Amy. From the moment she approached our table, she was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. She explained everything on the menu to a T — from recommendations, to how each dish was prepared, to flavor notes I wouldn’t have even thought to ask about.
Her timing was perfect, her professionalism was outstanding, and she made the entire meal feel elevated and effortless. You can tell she truly cares about giving guests a great dining experience. Amy is the kind of server who makes you look forward to coming back.
If you dine at Capital Grille, ask for Amy. She turned a great dinner into an unforgettable one!
The steaks are the star of the menu, dry-aged in-house and cooked precisely to order. They’re rich, tender, and full of flavor. Popular sides like lobster mac and cheese and creamy mashed potatoes complement the main courses beautifully. The wine selection is extensive, with knowledgeable staff ready to suggest excellent pairings.
Service is professional, attentive, and smooth without being intrusive. Overall, The Capital Grille offers a timeless steakhouse experience that feels both luxurious and reliable, making it a go-to choice for a sophisticated meal in New York City.
Our server was fantastic.
We were in NY on our honeymoon and we were given Prosecco and dessert on the house which was a lovely touch.
We both had steak which was beautiful.
Highly recommended x
Chris really took care of us!!! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and made excellent suggestions for both food and cocktails. Every recommendation he gave was great. The drinks were perfectly crafted, the food was flavorful, and the whole vibe of the evening felt elevated without being stuffy.
It’s rare to get service that feels this personal and smooth, but Chris made the entire night feel effortless. We left feeling full, happy, and already talking about when we’d be back. Highly recommend coming here and asking for Chris if you want an exceptional experience!
