Wow. Just wow. It’s my first time going to The Canterbury Kitchen. My girlfriend had been there for lunch several times and said she enjoyed it, but wasn’t really in the mood for that classic southern style menu which they serve at lunch. I showed her the menu and she was like, “Oh wow! Yeah, that’s totally different than their lunch menu.”
We came on a rainy, late afternoon and we had the place to ourselves, not normally the case apparently for the lunchtime crowd, but we found out they just started serving a dinner menu about 7 weeks ago.
Chef Chris was brought in to help launch the dinner menu and he is doing a spectacular job. He came to our table to see how we were enjoying everything and explained that the pasta, in both the pierogies and the chicken piccata, was handmade. He also explained that the produce was sourced locally. All of the attention to detail and love really came through in the end result. The service was also warm and friendly from our server, June. She’s a veteran that had solid suggestions and any question she didn’t have an answer for, she went to go find it.
This meal was an elevated experience. From the pepper jelly with the sour cream biscuits to chive crème on the pierogies, everything was so well thought out and expertly executed. For such a limited time doing dinner service, they are showing amazing promise of what I’m sure will be some superb meals to come.

This was our first time here, I was blown away. Not only was the service excellent but the food was so delicious. You could tell there was an actual chef in the kitchen. Fantastic ❤️❤️

I was very disappointed in the choices and especially the description of the food. For example I chose the veggie plate. It was stated as Macaroni and Cheese, but it had mushrooms in it. I am allergic to mushrooms. Side salad was a only spinach side salad, I can’t have spinach. No other options were offered until we were leaving after I had stated I was allergic when it was served. Definitely need better descriptions of the choices. Disappointing as I was visiting Albany after driving 5 hours from our Hotel in Tybee Island. Staff was not very welcoming and I overall was definitely disappointed in the restaurant overall especially since it was a beautifully designed and decorated. Unfortunately a total waste of money for us.

Everything about this place was mid.
Ambience: mid. Super loud inside (like dude put up some sound panels it’s an easy fix)
Service: mid. Forgot sides and had to track one down just to get some tartar sauce.
Food: mid. The side salad was a pathetic dry spinach salad. I felt like a cow chewing grass. Dressing didn’t help much. I ordered the fried catfish. And when she brought out the plate I thought it was a joke. ONE FILET?! ONE?? How they feel justified charging 16 bucks for that is beyond me.
Only reason they get 2 stars is because my girlfriend’s burger was decent and the sweet tea was really good.
Doubt I’ll go back.

We had the most amazing experience here today. Chef Terry was sitting outside on break but greeted us with a smile and a kind greeting. Inside, we were greeted by the lovely waitress Sherry. We had the most amazing food experience. We had the pimento cheese bites as an appetizer. AMAZMOS!!! For our main we had the brisket dip with fries, tomato pie and salmon bites. YUM, YUM, YUMMY! Chef Terry will treat you right and Sherry will make sure you’re taken care of. A must visit when in the area.

Went at lunch time. It wasnt busy at all. I ordered the fried green tomato sliders. It came before my mom’s and was lacking at best. Her food didnt show up until I had finished my meal. She ordered salmon and it was raw. Everyone who came in after us where served before we were.

The food was amazing. We tried the fried green tomato BLT sliders and the salmon bites (fried salmon with a honey soy sauce). Both were fantastic! I would definitely get both again. I, being indecisive, went with the veggie plate. Everything was a perfect temperature and delicious flavors. The mocktails were yummy. The Blueberry one was my favorite. I will most definitely be back again (even with it being a 90 minute drive.)

Incredible meal at the dinner hour. I had the pork ribeye. It was perfectly cooked, moist, NOT overcooked and dry. A nice simple wine list. An ample amount of veggies with the meal.
The noise level is high, but when it gets a bit cooler and one can eat in the outside area, it will be absolutely wonderful!

Food is profoundly good. Everything our table ordered was delicious, the correct temperature, plated beautifully, and came out magically fast. I want to especially thank yall for the amazing mac and cheese. Service during our late lunch was excellent. I’m not digging the minimalist approach to the dining room but the food is good enough we’ll definitely be back anyway. We can’t wait to try the dinner menu.
