Whenever I pass through Whitmire around lunch time, I like stopping at this place. The owner is always present as is so wonderful. She is always a good conversation and that’s why I like returning here. She knows the people in her community and they all like her.
The food is Southern home-cooking and you choose your preferences at the buffet bar. It is priced on what you choose so there is no limit on how many different items you choose. For dessert, they have a small “patisserie” corner, offering banana pudding or a gâteau of usually red velvet cake.
I recommend this establishment when you are in Whitmire.

Great little place to eat! Stopped by at an off time, and service was fantastic. Quick to take our order, and food came out in a reasonable time. Food was blazing hot, so you could tell it was freshly cooked! Fries tasted like they were freshly cut, onion rings were tender and crispy, and the flounder was so juicy and AMAZING! Burger was hand-pattied, and the popcorn chicken was tender.
Portion sizes were large, and prices were cheaper than fast food!
Only took a star for atmosphere due to some missing ceiling tiles and whatnot, but the eating area was very clean.

I work from home, so I didn’t feel like cooking on my break. I saw the reviews and thought I’d go check out the new spot in town. The food was amazing!! It was hot, fresh, delicious Southern Homestyle cooking. The buffet is 11am-5pm, with menu ordering available as well. This will be my new spot.

We brought 3 kids, 2 adults, and one Papa through on a little trip and stopped for breakfast at Café on Main. On Saturday mornings, you’re greeted by the local coffee club holding their usual meet-up. We sat ourselves and were welcomed by a kind waitress who really made the kids feel important. She took their orders first and sent them to the kitchen before taking ours—gave us a chance to focus on the kids, then enjoy our own meals.
The decor is simple but clean. The food matched: some good, some just okay. Skip the link sausage—dry and a little off. Hashbrowns needed more time on the griddle. But the kids inhaled their eggs, Papa polished off his omelet, and the biscuits were perfectly fluffy inside with a nice outer crisp.
The star? My bologna, egg, and cheese sandwich—though I only got half before my fiancée stole the rest. Like most small-town spots, the key is knowing what to order. Friendly service, local charm, and some solid breakfast hits make this a worthy stop.

AARP DISCOUNT & HOME COOKIN’ right by Sumter National Forest:
Sweet small down diner in historic building right on Main Street in Whitmire, SC! Everything is fresh cooked & totally worth waiting for at breakfast! Oh my GRITS!! Good ole Southern style from scratch perfect; piping hot & stand on the spoon just right, YUM! Had country fried steak sandwich & hubby had the Ham, Egg & Cheese, both on toasted bread, nice sized portions of everything, just wonderful!
On top of the delicious food of course was EXCELLENT, friendly service! The owner was there personally & staff was just as nice, had to go to work so got everything to go & it was ready quickly & packaged nice, with condiments we asked for when we ordered & utensils.
Everything was so good, I forgot to take a pic of the sandwiches, but managed to get a few of the grits before they were gone…lol
Highly recommend, please support local small town businesses like this, the owners hearts are in it, it’s SO worth it!
Thanks for the awesome experience ya’ll, blessings to you, well definitely be back! ❤️

Food was cold, fish was mushy, very overpriced. Don’t bother, keep on driving.

My family and I were passing through town and stopped for a bite to eat. We found this restaurant on Google, seen high reviews and figured to stop in. The service was pretty good considering it was a slow, Sunday afternoon so service may vary depending on when you go and what time. The food selection was good if the grills were fired up when we went. I would have much rather eaten something cooked fresh instead of food left under a heat lamp buffet style. The drinks were cold which was a bonus. The food we ate left much to be desired. My fried chicken was juicy, crispy, and warm (not fresh hot out of the fryer), the mashed potatoes were as cold as my drink, the broccoli casserole tasted good but could have been warmer. The banana pudding is what saved the day. I would have been perfectly happy paying $10 for banana pudding and been completely satisfied.

We are camping in the National Forest and on a rainy day decided to go out to breakfast in Whitmore. We found Cafe on Main online and truly enjoyed the omelets and friendly people that owned and ran the restaurant. It’s a cool small little town definitely in need of some TLC but has great potential. So close to the Beautiful Sumpter national forest with so many outdoor fun things to enjoy .
