We arrived early when the restaurant wasn’t very full and were seated immediately. It filled up quickly soon after. Our server was incredibly attentive, and drinks came out fast. (Note – they do not have alcohol available yet.)
After we placed our food orders, however, things slowed down significantly. My elementary-aged daughter ordered the kids burger, my husband the BLT, and I had the Bacon Brake-Check with grilled chicken instead of fried. Around the 30-minute mark with no food, I asked if it would be possible to get tortilla chips for my increasingly hangry child, which the staff kindly accommodated. Her food came out 5-10 minutes later, and our meals followed another 10 minutes after that—roughly 45–50 minutes total.
The grilled chicken on my sandwich was very good, but the bacon was room temperature, the cheese was missing, and the chopped lettuce mostly ended up on the plate. Our fries were great, though fries at nearby tables appeared undercooked by comparison.
Because of the long wait, my daughter’s meal was comped and we were offered free cake, which was appreciated. It seemed like a few tables—including ours—got backed up while others received food more quickly. Meals mostly arrived staggered within parties, sometimes without fries initially, likely while items were finishing in the kitchen.
Service was excellent overall, but hopefully timing and consistency will improve as they move past their soft opening. In totality I’d give a 1 star – but since they went above and beyond to try to make it right – I added another star.
My partner and I were very excited to come back here after their re-opening because we loved coming here. The new staff, specifically the bartender, were friendly. However, we were disappointed in the food. We ordered two apps – Pretzel Bite Flight (Sweet Smoky / Garlic / Cinnamon Sugar) and Crab Dip. The pretzels barely had any seasoning or flavor, they all tasted like normal pretzel bites. The Crab Dip came out cold (not sure if it was supposed to?) and was kind of bland, served with very hot tortilla chips. I ordered a burger with extra American Cheese (was told they only had American or Pepperjack) and fries and my partner ordered the fried chicken sandwich with potato salad. The food took much longer than expected (around 30 mins) and when it came out, my partner was given a grilled chicken sandwich instead. We are so hungry, we didn’t mention it at the time because we didn’t want to wait any longer. The burger had one slice of Cheddar – so I guess they had no American cheese after all? The bartender was nice enough to bring out more since we were charged for it. My partner’s grilled chicken was huge, but bland and without much flavoring. He enjoyed the potato salad, so that was good! The bartender offered us a piece of cake for the wait, which we appreciated and asked for it to-go. When we got home, we realized it was just a small piece of sheet cake, like from a grocery store with a cup of vanilla ice cream. Prior to the renovations, Bypass made their own cakes, so this was disappointing as well.
This was the very first day they opened, so we wanted to give them some grace but there was just a lot more issues than we expected. We wish them the best and hope they can work out the kinks.
What a disappointment!
Now this time, the server told us 20 minutes after we ordered our food that they were out of french fries. Most of their menu has french fries for crying out loud. Let it be known there was practically no one even in the restaurant. They have liquor now, no beer. When we tried to order a vodka drink they mentioned only having one of the 5 types of vodka they have on the menu which was basically the most expensive one they had. There’s a freaking abc store across the street. Poorly ran restaurant. After being in the restaurant for nearly an hour, we cancelled our orders and left. Never coming back until we hear of vast improvements.
