In the cities for an appointment and I have several hours to waste. So I looked up local restaurants and this is the one we decided on.
Amazing food! Coffee is delicious and the bakery items are so delightful! It was hard to decide on bakery items so we got 3. Gluten friendly caramel brownie, thyme cheddar biscuit and the key lime bar. All amazing. The walleye Benedict was phenomenal! And we also had the (forgot the name) breakfast sandwich on sourdough with bacon and eggs. It came with a side sale and the dressing on it was perfect with the sandwich. The sourdough bread was perfectly toasted and the eggs were perfectly cooked. I mean it’s been a while since I’ve been so happy with my meal.

I loved the bright and airy atmosphere of this restaurant! I’m not a fan of ordering at the counter but they have a good system and went fast. All of our choices were tasty and loved the French toast! I will be back to try their bakery items!

Me and my daughter were just there this morning! We got the banana foster french toast and it was absolutely amazing! As is the fresh squeezed orange juice! Everyone was so nice and we had such a wonderful experience I would definitely stop by again!

Also I am SO Sorry in the haste of getting my toddler out and to the play place, I completely forgot to leave a tip and I feel terrible !!!!!! I promise we do not normally do that

We visited Minneapolis for three days, and The Buttered Tin had the best food we tried during our trip. The food was deliciou, the staff were lovely, and the place was clean, and the prices were reasonable except for the $5 for black coffe.

I’ve been to the buttered tin in South Minneapolis and enjoyed it but now went to the NE location and had to write this review. This was the best breakfast I’ve had in a while ‍ I got the ropa vieja which as a Latina I was surprised that they even had! It was DELICIOSOOO. The plantains were perfectly cooked and the whole dish was seasoned to perfection, a great portion size, and warm. I got banana bread on the side with a drip coffee and both of those were amazing, 10/10. On top of that the service was great, food came out within 10-12 mins of ordering, and the guy at the register was so patient with me while I asked him for recommendations and what was good. I already want to come back

Got the pierogi, egg and sausage & the smothered breakfast burrito. Pierogi is TOP notch. The burrito could be pan fried to create a crust as the sauce makes the burrito soggy after 5-10 mins. This is but a normal occurrence for smothered burritos.

Both flavors were fantastic. Highly recommend.

Located in Northeast so expect slightly higher prices.

Food smacked, would come back!

Absolutely amazing! By far, one of the best breakfast spots I’ve ever tried. The best part? Service was great! It was my first time there with a friend and the person taking our order was incredibly helpful and explained the menu well and answered all our questions as well as giving recommendations. She even gave us details about where the food and ingredients are sourced. It was so fun hearing all about the menu and recipes! The food was 10/10!! I can’t wait to go back. I also ordered a bakery item to take home. It’s a busy place for sure but I can’t wait to go back.

We moved into the neighborhood a couple of years ago, and are walking distance from here. I was very hopeful that our new neighborhood breakfast spot would be good, but you never know until ya go. Fortunately for us, it is absolutely worth a visit. I will say, the prices are a little on the higher side of the $10-$20 range for a plate, don’t expect to pay like $11-12, expect closer to the $18ish range, and then of course coffee or a cinnamon roll would add on to that. Easy for the price for this breakfast to get a little on the higher side all things considered. However, the food!

Delicious food. What I think really makes the buttered tin stand out is that everything is scratch made. That really boosts this place above other breakfast options, especially with their baked goods. I am a huge fan of their scratch made twinkie, it is fantastic. When I first ordered it, my wife was a little like, oh gross, why would you order a twinkie, but after she tried it she understood that it was absolutely worth getting.

Additionally, I think their menu is very well designed. If you or someone dining with you tends towards more traditional or simpler flavors, you’ll be able to find something for them. They walk a nice line of having options that are creative and unique without being too intimidating. Personally, I love the walleye cake bennie, it’s a great way to enjoy an eggs benedict type dish with some Minnesota flair.

Another thing I really appreciate is the specials. Since we only visit a couple times a year, usually when family is in town, it’s really nice to know that while most of the menu is the same, there’s a good chance one of the specials will be a real contender.

Please be sure to get either a cinnamon roll or caramel roll at some point as well. Scratch made, nice and big, great to share with the table, whenever we go to my parents they always ask if we can bring a to go cinnamon roll from buttered tin along.

One other note that I personally enjoy, but depending on your style may be a plus or a minus – It’s an order at the counter and take a number type of place. They’ll bring the food out when it’s ready. This makes service and seating actually move very efficiently on busy weekends. You’ll end up waiting in line for a few minutes, but as soon as you’re at the front of the line, you can order and grab a table, and they have it paced out seemingly very well.

Great food, good portions. The staff was super friendly in helping and providing suggestions. Our order was brought out about 5 minutes after placing at the counter. I would recommend going early as when we arrived the establishment was about 1/2 full, by the time our order was delivered to our table there was a small line waiting to order. We’ll worth it.

Great food and normally great service. The menu differs from St Paul store.

Salad is a great side instead of potatoes, but once in a while you need to pick bad greens or fruit.
