The biscuits and gravy were full of flavor 7.5/10 – highly recommend. Got a mandatory pancake, but was not too impressed, so you could pass.
The atmosphere, presentation, and good biscuits and gravy is worthy of 4 stars.
Not expensive (paid about $35 for bananas foster french toast, two eggs, a drink, and one of the cinnamon rolls).
The food was INCREDIBLE; the bananas foster french toast comes as a big beautiful pile of sliced baguette style bread that’s been frenched and toasted, with grilled banana, candied pecans, and whipped cream on top. The pecans seem to be candied on location, not pre-made, which makes a huge difference. Very good bread choice, and it comes perfectly crisped with some chewy center from the bread structure. Eggs are pretty fresh and you can taste that they are, which is always a plus.
Big portions, so me and my friends are taking home leftovers as well, so it’s really like 1 1/2 to 2 meals for the about $25 that I paid for a breakfast entree, drink, and extra side of eggs.
Service was LOVELY, everyone we interacted with was knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Contact points were when we ordered at the counter, then when food was brought to us (quickly, too!!), then when they checked in on us and cleared some plates, at which point we also asked for leftover containers.
Am really looking forward to coming back the next time I’m in the area!!!
Not only were they calm and accommodating with a big order, but when I realized mid-wait that I needed a few lighter options and added to it (because apparently I can’t plan ahead ), they were SO kind and flexible. No stress. No attitude. Just pure hospitality.
While I was waiting, I made the life-changing decision to order one of their from-scratch, made-in-house cinnamon rolls…
And listen.
I was not prepared.
I was literally sitting there in a daze while eating it. Perfectly ooey-gooey. Fluffy but substantial. The caramel and frosting were balanced in a way that should probably win awards. I think I temporarily left my body. Shannon even came up and asked if I needed anything and I could barely respond because I was in cinnamon roll heaven.
Shannon, who was running the show this morning, is the kind of person that makes a place unforgettable. She’s like the cool aunt. I always wanted, but never had. Calling everyone “sweetie” and “hon,” checking in on customers, radiating warmth. It felt like walking into a small-town café tucked into downtown St. Paul. Cozy, chill, authentic, independent coffee shop vibes, the kind of place you hope exists but rarely find.
The entire staff was working so hard, smiling, clearly proud of what they’re doing. You could feel that the culture there is good. And that matters.
The food? Incredible.
The service? Even better.
The cinnamon roll? I will dream about it.
If you’re anywhere near downtown St. Paul – go. Order extra. And don’t skip the cinnamon roll.
We will absolutely be back.
