With any sit down kosher restaurant in the area, 20% gratuity is included, regardless of service quality. This place is also BYOB, so you can at least drink while you wait (they do not have a liquor license). The service was about average speed on a busy Thursday night when the entire outdoor area was full. Felt like guests were waiting for a long time for their food, but the servers were really nice – it’s just that there were probably not enough of them.
There’s no defined drink menu, and there should be, at least for non alcoholic drinks. There’s also not a single protein item for a vegetarian or pescetarian. Tuna steak? Nope. Salmon? Nope. Veggie burger? Nope. Also, while the salads were excellent, the apps were just about average and too expensive for what they are. Where are the good Steakhouse sides we crave? Brussels sprouts? They need work in this area.
Total came out to about $200 a couple, without liquor, which I feel was a lot, considering the ambiance was literally a New Jersey Transit railroad track. All in all, it was a good experience, just be prepared to temper your expectations a bit.
Update: James is the best server they have he’s awesome! Came here twice in a month, it’s a solid spot in Deal.
Service was really good, always attentive and seeing if we needed anything else but not annoying. Food was brought out really fast.
I’m visiting for work but I would return here in a heartbeat the next time I’m in the area.
The outdoor ambiance was well lit and and felt special. But we were surprised and disappointed that a restaurant in this price tier didn’t offer any some sort of bread at all.
We ordered three appetizers: Pulled BBQ Tacos, Bourbon Poppers, and Zucchini chips.
Believe it or not, Zucchini Chips may have been our favorite. Deliciously fried with tasty sauces on the side. 9/10.
We also liked the Bourbon Poppers, very flavorful but a tad on the sweet side. Would have definitely benefited from some heat to offset the excessive sweet. 7.5/10.
The Pulled Beef Tacos had decent flavor, however the texture of the meat was not fine enough – with each bite felt like all the meat was being pulled out of the taco – nothing like what Reserve Cut and Doma Land and Sea have perfected. Nevertheless, still tasty. 7/10.
For our main, we shared a Reserve Surprise steak. The steak flavor was really delicious with a flavorful touch of roasted garlic. We ordered medium well, but the steak came medium rare/rare. 30% of the steak was inedible dense fat – this is our favorite cut of steak, yet we’ve never seen it with fat like this. The bites we could eat, though, were incredibly delicious. 7.5/10.
The main gripe my wife had with the restaurant is that she went to the back to order a cake for her boss’ birthday and she was told it would be taken care of – twice. Ten minutes later, the waitress came to ask the boss if he wants dessert, making the entire encounter uncomfortable and awkward. High line restaurants should not have those kinds of encounters.
Overall, we’d put the experience at 7/10, but feel compelled to round down to 3/5. We expect more from such expensive restaurants.
The atmosphere and service are superb.
I had the Sticky BBQ Ribs at $30 was a good value for your money, was a huge portion however it was mostly bones with very little meat and it was nor very tasty.
The Duck Fries at $24 was basically frozen fries with dry pieces of duck and scallions with no taste, I would not recommend it.
To conclude the place and service is great, they have great menu options, their stakes are great and reasonably priced however the dishes that I toke was mediocre
